    Distilled water is water that has been boiled and condensed - so it's pure. The ice in your freezer is comprised of general moisture that's frozen onto the sides, plus all of the bits that have fallen off your food. I can't understand why people think that's a good thing to put in your iron - I wouldn't want my clothes smelling of frozen peas and frozen pizza!
