Helping son sell his car. ''Here's the V5C and MoT Dad'' I take and peruse thinking ''blimey he's on the ball today'' (unlike England yesterday) BUT his V5C is actually only half the V5C (right hand page with New Keepers details form) not the left hand side with his details.
Can he still sell without the LH page ?
I might ebay him soon:rotfl:

Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
Thankyou quiet spark - He's called to say a friend may want it so the absence may not be so important.
BUT (he is defo bound for ebay now) he has bought a car today where the owner gave him the LH page only and MoT. Can he now complete the ''new keepers details'' under the registered keeper details on LH page and use that to tax the car at PO.
Kids and V5C's

Thanks
No, he needs the green 'New Keeper Supplement' from second page to licence the car at the P.O.0 -
Thanks - so if he has the LH side only how does he tax the new car ?0

This is all on the V5, but for future reference:
When opened flat
The left hand page is where the purchaser fills in his address, the seller signs it and keeps it and then the seller sends it to the DVLA (having photocopied it first)
The right hand page has the green slip which is given to the purchaser. This slip can then be used to tax it, or to apply for a free replacement V5 when the new one doesn't arrive within about 8 weeks.
If the purchaser applies for a new V5 and the seller did not send back the left hand page (or find some other foolproof way to notify the DVLA of the change of keeper) within hours of selling the car, the seller automatically gets a fine for their naughtiness.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

He fills in a V62 Application for a V5c, and pays £25 when he hands in the application with the tax money.
You never know, they might issue a disc if you wave the left hand side with his new details on along with the insurance, but strictly that is not what they should do, (and they are sticklers for The Rules nowadays)
If the previous owner has still got it insured, they can apply for a tax disc online, and pass it to him when it arrives, if he doesn't send the left hand side back for a few days. If you've only got the left side, fill it in as normal, keep a copy for your records, and send it in as normal. Why would you need to pay a fee if you're sending the left page in, that's all the DVLA ask for?
If you're taxing with it at the post office, they'll ask if you've got the new keeper's for your records, and send the left page in for free for you. Saves buying a stamp.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

The buyer keeps the "new keeper supplement". The seller sends the first page back to DVLA with the buyer's details on it. DVLA send the buyer a V5C in their name, in about a month. In the mean time, the buyer takes the "new keeper supplement" to the PO and taxes it over the counter.0

Most Post Offices will accept the l/h side of a V5C with new keeper details over the counter when you need tax. They keep the form and forward it to DVLA along with their normal paperwork, and the new form arrives in the post in a week or two.0
