Royal Mail Signed for - how to claim for no signature

Fed up of Royal Mail delivering without a signature or the delivery status updating online.

Ive read on here you can claim a free book of stamps.

Just gone through 25 receipts - and 8 did not update.

Thats why i sometimes pay extra and make the item bigger so it does not fit through the letterbox.

    Should not have to though.

As far as I know you still have to fill in the RM claim form (I've done it before) and attach your proof of posting.

I put in the notes section that I paid for a service I did not receive as the tracking hasn't updated to show a signature has been obtained.

I claim for the £1.10 signed for fee and get stamps in return.

Before, buyers had 45 days to make a Paypal claim and with RM you have to file a claim before 80 days have elapsed, the problem I see now is if you send off your proof of posting before the RM 80 days, you then don't have the proof of posting if a buyer makes a claim after that time.

But I'm not sure if buyers now have 180 days to claim item not received,so I stand corrected If I've read it wrong.

    Yes, I've done that.

However I don't think it's worth spending the time filing in forms, finding the postage receipt, making a copy of it just in case, and then posting. It's probably 15 to 30 minutes work, so half an hour spent trying to get 1.10 back is well below minimum wages - I think the time can be spent more productively and profitably elsewhere.
  • It is a FREEPOST address

Do not send them all together as they will combine them. Send them separately, one on each day, you should get one book of 6 x 1st class stamps for each.

It's actually three calendar months if you are claiming for no signature/proof of delivery. It only takes a few minutes to complete the form as you only need the basic information - they really don't need the recipient's email address/phone number/date of birth/star sign. The form can be downloaded from their website as well as collected from a post office.

I used to do mine in bulk and just photocopy the forms and attach a covering letter.

I haven't done one for ages but I used to get a book of stamps for every claim I submitted which was a great deal more than I paid for recorded in the first place.

    Thanks all :T

Ive considered it in the past and printed off a form - only to see there is no mention of claiming for no signature. And as bxboards says - it seems a lot of hassle and time that could be spent elsewhere. I don't even claim lost post below a fiver.

BUT - if i can simplify it, i will do it - as i'm fed up of Royal Mail ripping me off. Its a new claim for INR that's brought this back to my attention. Its not updated.

So i've sent a letter with the receipt, as Soolin did. If this results in success - its then just a case of changing the ref number on the saved letter - and printing again. Freepost address is now saved in my label printer.

Or, if they insist on filling a form - prefill all apart from ref number, postcode etc - save on PC - then print off and add the missing bits

I'll see how it goes. Now found 27 that did not update and more to check. Its a scandal Royal mail are getting away with this.

P.s when did claim time fall to 80 days - it was 12 months last time i claimed

For no signature, the time limit is 3 calendar months. It changed from a year ages ago
