Refund of Ryanair insurance after they forced me to cancel flight

I booked a Ryainair flight a few months ago and accidentally included the insurance option without noticing (don't get me started!).

About a month before the flight Ryanair informed me that they were moving the flight by 13 hours and offered me the option to cancel which I had to do due to our young family. When they refunded it was excluding the insurance cost (about €60 IIRC).

I've been trying to get this money back as a matter of principle but the insurance company don't want to know and Ryanair don't want to know. Does anyone happen to know what my rights are with this? Ryanair effectively forced me to cancel the flights and as the insurance was purchased with the flights I'd expect this to be refunded also seeing as how the flights are not being used.

This should be on the main flights board rather than the delay board
I would have thought that you have had the benefit of the insurance cover since you booked the flights until you cancelled so don't think they will refund as the cover has been in place should you have needed to claim

Did you have to book new flights? If so claim any extra costs off the insurance

The insurance policy was effective from the time you paid for it. As you've had the benefit if being insured you can't get a refund.

Ah...I see the mistake you made, you booked with Ryanair.

They have sneekily sold me travel insurance in the past too, even though I am ultra careful.

Have you tried a refund request through https://insurancerefunds.ryanair.com/ ?

You could speak to your credit card company, as if you were tricked into buying the insurance surely that is mis-selling.

If it covers this circumstance - I rather doubt it
