Unsure what to do re: EE

Hi all,

Am on ee at the mo, was paying approx £46 a month then due to price rise it is now £49.. Yes I know a stupid amount

I have tried to contact them re this increase and tbh they never understand what I am going on about or is it just me?!?

Any how's.. Am thinking of buying out of the contract which will be £600 as runs until November 15...

Good or daft idea?.. Also will never ever have 24month contract again :)

£46 a month What did you get a phone made of Gold?

Surely EE must have informed you of the price rise?

Thats when you should press the exit button

That email will tell you about the price rise. Thats when you should have phone them and said im not happy with it i want out.

now you got 2 options: stay with them or Buy out. you can sell the phone to pay some of it.

    Thanks for the replies :)
  • Your £49 a month is made up of (say) £30 for the phone a month and the rest for calls, texts and data.

You do seem to be paying perhaps £10 a month more than current offers but I guess the phone was new out at the time.

You would be better off sitting the contract out and putting a reminder in the phone for 30 days before the contract ends to phone up and cancel.

I cancelled a T-Mobile contract and they sent a final account letter. Generally it was online billing.

How have you worked out it would be £600 to buy out? 12 months left?

Usually the exit-fee is the remainder of the contract, in which case you may as well use it. In the next few months, they may raise the prices again and therefore you can get out earlier next time.

What's the point paying the 600 up front :S all your doing is chucking 600 quid away instead of using the service

It's always a good idea to check out the sim free price of a handset when taking on a 24 month contract as you simply divide the sim free price by 24 and then you know how much of your £49 is paying for the handset and the rest is paying for your calls/texts/data bundle. It would be more "transparent" if the rules forced vendors to split out the charges in this way, a bit like the way legislation forces utility companies to quote the "real" standing charges rather than wrap them up into inflated unit charges.

How about selling the iPhone on eBay or a recycle site then using some of that money to fund the buyout? You'll get a good price for it if it's in good nick.
