Bought a car from a dealership, now problems...

I have in that past been to a different Toyota dealer who did a warranty repair on a car bought from another dealer. Think they were more than happy as all paid for by Toyota UK (or whatever). Not sure if still the same though.
In your case you were using the manufacturer warranty.
The OP mentioned a 1 year warranty which sounds more like a dealership warranty which isn't so transferable from dealership to dealership. It could be the manufacturer warranty but the OP's wording leads me to think otherwise.0 -
Yeah, I've worked that out but when buying the car (and when looking for a car) at both of these two exact branches I made sure that I could get warranty work carried out at any *** dealership in the country...
Surely, that's not my problem as I'm a customer of ***, rather than a customer of *** in ***.
So is the car still in the manufacturer warranty period? If so there shouldn't be any problem unless the dealership you've taken it to are being funny because they'd rather not do the work (in which case you should have the manufacturer on your side).0 -

Forget the warranty, all that does is give the stealer an opportunity to mug you off. Your claim is against the supplying dealer under SOGA.0 -
Why so coy at telling us the manufacture of the vehicle ? It could be relevant, some vehicles are prone to a bit of clutch judder in certain conditions. My VW has clutch judder which the dealer says he can't detect, but I have got it recorded at 10,000 miles in the service record so when it busts the DMF he won't have a leg to stand on.You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

it is fairly standard for dealers to ask for fee to investigate a fault and then if the fault is covered by the warranty you would pay nothing
in your case you shouldnt have to pay anything to rectify a fault that was on the car at time of purchase
I can see your thinking of going to the dealers nearest to you but it really is not there problem and you need to be banging on the door of the supplying dealer
I would go to the sales manger first and ask what he is going to do to sort this problem, if you get no joy then go to the dealer principle and say you are not happy with the way that this is being handled
what sort of miles are on the car ? and is it a diesel car with a dual mass flywheel0 -
At the end of the day is was YOUR choice to go to the dealer 100 miles away.
They want the £500 to take the gearbox out because no one works for free and it will tie a ramp/mechanic up for the best part of the day. THEN for ever how long while the OP, the selling dealer and the one whose ramp its on all argue the toss about wear and tear.
I'd just take it back to the selling dealer and let them sort it.0 -
it is difficult to say from the information given what type of one year warranty the original poster has on his car
but from the information given I would say it is an approved used warranty backed by the manufactures of the car and underwritten by an insurance company
if it is this case then you can have warranty work carried out at any main dealers but they will always want to charge an inspection fee to cover their costs if it turns out not to be a warranty repair
as above you need to deal with the supplying dealer under the sale of goods act0 -

The old E87 BMW 1 series, for example, had a well publicised clutch judder problem and had the OP replied I would of pointed him towards relevant info regarding it.0 -
Exactly why I mentioned BMW in my earlier post, which the OP has chosen to ignore

With such a specific guess as to the problem, I'll put my hands up - you got me.
