Owl did you buy? What? Why?After many years of faithful, unfaltering service my electric hand mixer has died
So, ladies and gents of the OS money saving world; what do you recommend?
I rather fancy a stand up one (kenwood?) but am after some recommendations. I am at the stage where I need one, but don't like any because they're not my old one!!!:rotfl:
I have some cash squirreled away with which to treat myself:T
Be kind please - this is the first time I've started a thread!!
Owl x
PS - I know a true OS'er would use a wooden spoon, but I'm lazy!!
I'm in a similar position as yourself, I'm expecting a bonus and while I'm not 100 per cent sure how much it will be I'd really like to treat little old me
Anyway I'm also looking at Kenwood or possibly a KitchenAid but one thing puts me off - the attachments. I don't fancy paying £300 plus and then have to start buying additional attachments. I'd like the whole package in one bundle.
That said I'm keeping an eye on the TV Shopping Channels as they seem to put packages together. Has anyone ever bought this way?0 -
I bought a Kenwood Nostalgia in the end. It was £50 off in Costco. And cheaper than anywhere else anyway... Just inboxes and used. I am in love!! (Sorry Mr Owl xx)
I am going to get a cheapie hand mixer (asda smart price??) just for whipping cream, angel delight etc)Children are born with wings .... Teachers help them to flyOne day your life is going to flash in front of your eyes.... Make sure it's worth watching!!!!!0 -
I've just bought a Kenwood Chef Titanium KMC010, I had an old Lidli, and to be honest I wouldn't say a word against it it was pretty good at what I asked it to do, but to be honest I thought I treat myself

Anyway, Amazon, John Lewis, and Argos were selling the machine at £400, other retailers were asking from £449 and upwards. Purely by accident I happened to stumble across Amazons Warehouse Deals and one there at £348 and with a £20 gift card I had ended up getting it at £328
So now I'm awaiting for delivery

I have a Kenwood Prospero - it's a smaller version of the standard Kenwood Chef - and I love it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenwood-Prospero-KM283-Stand-Mixer/dp/B006WYVF6Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406570619&sr=8-1&keywords=kenwood+prospero
I wasn't sure at first how much I would use it, so didn't want to shell out for the Big One (so to speak), but I honestly use this virtually every day and it lives on my countertop, taking up less room that the bigger versions like Kitchenaid and the Chef.
I make coleslaw in minutes for pennies - won't buy ready made now, HM much nicer - and can get cakes mixed and in the oven inside of ten minutes, no hassle. Dough hook makes great bread, has a blender attachment which has been excellent too - smoothies and soups etc. Everything's to hand and it's been brilliant for nearly four years now.
I might well invest in a full-grown Kenwood Chef sometime, now I know I'll get the use from it - if I do step up a gear, my Prospero will get handed on to DD1 to use, as it's smashing.
Might not be for you if you already know you'll use it a lot, but if you're not sure, this is a good halfway-house, as is the Andrew James version listed earlier (except I haven't tried that one to know how it performs, and doesn't look like it has the blender/processor/juicer attachments).
Good luck, whatever you decide !
Just spotted that you've already decided and bought - sorry, missed that ! Good luck with the new mixer - you won't regret it !0
