    250 grams dark chocolate
    75 grams muscovado sugar
    75 grams butter (melted)
    40 grams plain flour
    5 eggs
Hence the price. £6 of ingredients so £2 for two. Of course, they aren't paying retail prices = but £4 standard price with £2 of ingredients is pretty tight.

No, but they are great for portion control! Eg ice-cream, rice pudding etc.

Glass ramekins or sundae dishes aren't exactly expensive.

Perhaps some people like to pretend they're serving Gu puds instead of homemade.

I've been using the glass ramekins for years too.

A cheaper version of chocolate pudding makes 5 of them and works out at about 37p per ramekin excluding cooking costs, last time I checked prices anyway. I use Tesco value everything except the eggs and the sugar and it tastes the same to me as when I tried it with more expensive ingredients.

    125g dark chocolate
    125g unsalted butter
    3 large eggs
    150g caster sugar
    35g plain flour

Melt the chocolate and butter together in a bowl over a pan of simmering water.

Whisk the eggs then add the sugar and flour.

Gradually and gently add the chocolate mixture to the egg mixture. Rest it for 30 mins. Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees C. Butter 5 ramekins and dust with flour.

Put mixture in ramekins on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-20 mins until the edges are set and the tops are cracking a little. The centre should still wobble.

I put night lights in the glass ramekins - a whole line of them on a shelf, looks really pretty ( yes, I've eaten too many).
