    Because people will pay it?
ie if they weren't selling at that price they wouldn't be able to keep charging it :)

  • Some people will pay it....others will buy loads more when they are later 'on sale' for a lower price (because it's a bargain innit?).

As with all things with supermarkets - they do what will earn them the most profit.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!
  • Because they're yummy? (when on offer...)

The glass ramekins are not cheap compared to other packaging options.
Not checked but they are likely to be using high quality ingredients.

They are likely to have a decent margin. If they went cheaper they may sell more, but they will erode the margin.

Not sure if GU are independent or owned by another dessert manufacturer.

If you've a Nisa near you they're about £1.80 for 2 at the moment.

I can give you my recipe for the melting middle chocolate puds if you want it. Ever so easy to make.

yes please! 'easy' is my 2nd favourite word (after FREE!!)

we had the Gu puds on a BA flight and thought they were yummy, until I looked at the price. I might nip over to our local Nisa to see what they have in, but still pretty pricey.

    250 grams dark chocolate
    75 grams muscovado sugar
    75 grams butter (melted)
    40 grams plain flour
    5 eggs

Melt the chocolate in microwave or bowl over low simmering water.
    Combine all other ingredients.
Pour in the melted chocolate, and mix until just combined.
Grease and sugar 6 ramekin moulds of approx 150ml capacity.
Half fill the moulds, the mixture is fairly runny.
Cook at 180 degrees for 10-12 minutes, then serve with ice cream. They should be just set on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside.
