mis-sold running trainers!

Just looking for some advice, I usually buy my running shoes from a 'proper' running shop but money is a bit tight this year and decided to buy my trainers from Sports Direct. I asked advice from the staff and told them that I have fallen arches and need support shoes, they showed me which range were support shoes and after trying a few pairs I paid £70 for a pair. I have been running with them on on 3 occasions and was getting shin pain which normally means theres no support in the shoe. I had kept my old pair and compared them, the new pair are completely different and look more like a neutral shoe with no arch support. Im not happy and want to take them back and get my money back but I have worn them and Sports Direct have a policy of only giving you a credit note no matter what the problem. I feel like im entitled to a money back refund though as technically they are faulty and not 'as described'. Do I have a leg to stand on??

Do you have the "make and model" of the shoe? (I don't know how the refer to different styles of shoes!)

To make matters easier, it would be helpful if you had prove you had been sold a support shoe but not received one... Maybe an extract from SD website saying it is support, but the manufacturer making no reference to this on their site?

Otherwise it's their word against yours, and you probably won't get very far.
  • In their advertising it says for normal/flat arch, they are karrimor shoes and sports direct own karrimor so obviously theyre going to say thats right but u can tell looking at them theyre not!

Not all support shoes are alike, you'll get different levels of support in different shoes. Unless you can get technical proof that these are not a support shoe you are going to struggle to get a refund.

A 17 year old kid is not who I would rely on to sell me anything on medical grounds. If you want proper advice, don't buy from sports direct.

But bris has a point, would you go to pound land to get your glasses if you had a complex eye problem?

If you want proper running shoes (even if you don't have foot problems) then you go and get decent shoes. Otherwise you will be paying the difference several times over with medical issues later on.

I was going to say the same thing.

Sports direct is not where you go for specialist advice

Of course the assistant should accept some of the blame if you specifically asked something, but it may be difficult to prove
  • I paid 70 quid for them! Fair enough if they were £20 or something!

You chose to pay £70 for them, you decided that was what they were worth. Price does not guarantee they are the right shoe for you, you decided that when you tried them on.

A support shoe is like a support bra - what works for one person will not work for another. If I need a support bra I'll go to John Lewis, not Primark!

People pay hundreds of pounds for designer label clothes/bags/watches/headphones.

    Doesn't mean its not !!!!.
