Hi there,
I currently have fibre optic broadband unlimited and we are heavy users.
I have been offered a good deal for a package from sky but its normal unlimited broadband. Had a phone call from my current provider who has told me that normal broadband will not be able to withstand my familys usuage!!
Any advice please. I don't know whether I should stick with fibre or move back onto the normal broadband. (Had normal broadband up until the last two years but have extra gadgets and users now).
Many thanks

Hi I have done, and to be honest it isn't much better than BT. So I have ended up with lots of info and different prices but confused as to whether "normal" broadband will be sufficient.Mum to 4 beautiful children

What things do you do with your broadband?
How many concurrent devices in use?
Predicted bandwidth for ADSL (normal broadband)?0 -
OK I am not sure I have all that info but will try.
Devices on internet atm are:-
2 x Xbox
1 x PC
2 x Tablet
2 x Phone
2 x Ipod
1 x Laptop
Would be connecting sky TV up as well as these, and sky have said Normal broadband should be between 7 - 14.3 megs
The xboxs are used for gaming and downloading whatever gaming stuff they do. Tablets are used to download apps and watch Youtube mainly, PC used for everything social networking, basic games, shopping, surfing etc. We use a lot there are 6 of us.Mum to 4 beautiful children

Hi Emma133. I know fibre costs a lot more but it looks like you need it, depending of course on what speeds you can get on copper BB (ADSL).0

Or you can cut back on the intensity of your data usage. TV and Games are the things that really need a reliable fast connection. Even then, there are download options for TV with both iPlayer and 40d offering this option.
I am with Talktalk, and pay £13.50 per month for Fibre BB, if that helps at all.0 -
it depends on the broadband speed you get. if you get 16-32mg a second then i'd say save the money as the amount of gadgets won;t affect the speed that much unless everyone is downloading and streaming all at once. i had fibre in my old house simple because i was sick of 4 mg a second BB. my fibre then rose to 24 mg a second. my old man was getting 25mg on his BB line and now gets 50mg on fibre. he didn;t really need it as he doesn;t download but he likes the speed.0
