then you have the !!!!!! use of words "civil partner". when i was at school, the only thing i learn't about the word civil was: civilization, civilian, civil war. where does the word civil fit in with someone being a homosexual? it's a poorly chosen use of words in the english language and for the longest time i had no idea a civil partnership actually mean't 2 gay or lesbian or bi people in a relationship.
No, that's not what it means. A civil partnership is a formal relationship, just like a marriage - not just a personal thing but an official recognition of their union. I will put in a link to explain though frankly I have my doubts that you really misunderstand this stuff. Your post seems intended to stir up trouble.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_partnership_in_the_United_KingdomPPI on Natwest loan, Barclayloan, MBNA credit card, and Mortgagecare all repaid just for asking in 2012/2013!
Barclaycard - PPI refund refused 26/01/13, ombudsman upheld 12 May 2014, Barclays resisted until March 2015 - FOS say Barclays are calculating an offer, they have 8 weeks.0 -

i ignore trolls and internet bashers. i made the thread to ask a question about whether i was right or wrong and whether i can expect to be prosecuted for making a mistake.
although no one directly answered the last point, i have gathered from the discussion that at the most i have to pay back the money and that is as far as it goes for me.
i got my answers. i'm happy. why do you assume i came to stir up trouble?
you pointed out that what i currently thought what a civil partnership was is still wrong - which validates my previous post where i expressed all the things about titles and marital statuses to choose on forms i simply will never understand fully and is the primary reason why i cocked up my working tax credits application.0 -
Why do you think single people are entitled to more money than individuals in a couple? Because of the costs of living with someone are inevitably going to be less per each individual than if they are not together.
So whether you have a marriage certificate or not is not going to change the above. It's a bit common sense really!0 -

that's not what i think at all. i never cared whether i had to apply as a joint / couple or as a single person. i just wanted to apply because i was in immense financial hardship and needed help and i just honestly thought my status officially was supposed to be single.
i've already accepted however that i made a mistake. i'm not arguing with anyone.0 -
was your girlfriend claiming as well?0
-
no it was just me. for over half the time i was claiming she was not working, and when she was she was earning less than minimum wage and not doing many hours. it's only since last may this year she got a proper job doing above minimum and 38-40 hours a week.
i had hoped they would just amend the entire claim to a joint one and take down the details of her and all the circumstances and stuff since the start of the claim and just get me to pay back the difference but they said they can't do that.0 -

Are you now making a new joint claim for tax credits?
I am not an expert on tax credits but I would be going to CAB with all my paperwork and asking them about notional entitlement (i.e offsetting your joint claim against your single claim)
However, it is complicated and am not sure whether you have to have made a new joint claim for notional entitlement to happen.
CAB would be able to speak to Tax Credits with your permission.
Some examples of notional entitlement:

they gave me the impression and were sort of, adamant that i cannot get a reduction by any means at all in what i have to pay back.
i did start my conversation on how i can go about a notional entitlement of working tax credits and the guy dismissed my question and just gave me a big long winded speech on how and when i can and will need to pay all the money back.
kind of like... avoided giving me an answer about notional entitlement.
what do you recommend? try asking again myself or get the CAB to do it for me?0 -

CAB will be able to speak to Tax Credits based on the information you give them and on the relevant 'rules'.
It is important that you take any relevant paperwork with you including bank statements showing the tax credits payments.
It would also be useful to make a time line of when you first claimed up to now to show what and when your partner was earning (her bank statements needed too) including phone calls made and the responses you got.
You will need to choose a CAB that has a benefits specialist (google for your nearest one)0 -

and stuff.
that's awful.
all i can think of is finding an excellent lawyer who is highly experienced and will take on your case on the confidence that they will win and you will be able to pay them after the case is closed in your favour.
do like.. a double case. divorce and sue him for damages to your life.0
