I lost my 3pm finish job, not long after my eldest started Secondary. He was 12 when I started the job I work in now, where the hours are 9-5. I sent my younger child who is now 11, to the after school club at her Primary school until earlier this year, when she started coming home in preparation for that being the norm once she goes to Secondary in September.

In the school holidays, I send youngest to various camps. There is wrap-around holiday care at her school that caters for children 4-11, but I also send her to dance camps, drama summer schools and sports camps run by leisure centres.

Good luck at the interview. x

    Thanks for your replies.

Had a chat with parents last night and they were ok about it.

I wasn't expecting them (especially my Mom) to be so understanding. Me not being at work just isn't an option, obviously part time work would have been ideal but this job has come up, the money is really good. Obviously I want the kids to have holidays etc and we can't achieve this with only my husband working and it's not fair to expect him to work all the hours god sends and me not contributing financially for this.

Need to do a bit of preparation for the interview (it's at 3pm).

  • Good luck.

Remember to smile! Often people are so nervous and everything weighing on it that they forget to smile and engage. They are looking for the right person and that is someone they can get on with as well as the ability

    Hi there.

My interview was ok, I was in there for a good hour.

I had to ring the agency when I left which I did and at the interview they said they would be doing 2nd interviews next week.

I told the agency this and he said he would get feedback and come back to me, but I've heard nothing. I'm not really in the right frame of mind at the moment to call them, as I might say something I regret later. On Tuesday I have my 3 month review with the jobcentre and to say that I'm feeling down in the dumps is an understatement. :(

This is why I don't like dealing with agencies as they have a habit of building your hopes up.

Don't get disheartened just yet. Plenty of places knock off early on Friday, or the opposite end of the scale is they can be madly busy whilst you're trying to wrap up stuff for the end of the week. It may be that the place doesn't want to provide feedback until all the interviews are complete and then they can give feedback and say who they want to offer the job to at the same time. That's what happened when a vacancy came up where I worked earlier this year, my supervisor only contacted the agency after she and the manager had made the decision who they wanted to employ.
