My son had an accident three years ago [not his fault he was rear ended]. Went with DLG as they were Direct Lines 'Solicitor'. WE have had to do all the leg work. The last straw was they sent an email on 15th December 2016, we replied on 16th. Phoned them today and they STILL have not read the email we sent. Needless to say they had an earful. Going to write a letter of complaint today and then the next step will by the ombudsman.
  • * Just got off the phone to DLG, they have now read the email HOORAY ! and it is now being passed to the 'Complex Team' because of loss of earnings. They have known about the loss of earnings claim for almost three years now. Absolute shambles of a Company. Right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.
  • DLG seem to be getting their referrals and work from and for the insurance companies.
They have caused my daughter lot of stress for 5 months now basically going round in circles doing nothing for my daughter except for causing her additional stress, frustration and trauma. Request your insurance company to allow you to choose your own legal representative. Chances are they too will do all they can to frustrate your request. At the last resort take a chance with a no win no fee solicitor and then try and seek a recourse against the insurer for the fees you've had to pay.

DLG are owned by Direct Line, stay well away they are a disgrace and will, cause you heartache.
I don't want to sound racist but on more than one occasion I had to advise them I could not understand their representative and had to request a different employee

Direct Line have recently instructed DLG for a no fault claim, instead of working for me they have been harassing me. PLEASE DON'T USE THEM, THEY REALLY ARE THAT BAD. you have been warned.

    Same here!!

Do they get all their work from the insurance companies.? If so if they represent a client from insurance A against insurance B. Could the roles be reversed in another case??

DLG Legal Services don't get paid by Churchill / Direct Line as they are all owned by DLG.

Thee people dealing with the claims on behalf of policyholders have a case load of around 300 cases each!

Not defending them, as I have had some issues with them, but I've dealt with them on both sides (them representing third party, and them representing us as insurers).

If you're unhappy with their service you can use your own solicitors, but you'd need to check your policy to see if your insurer would pay your solicitors, if you choose to use your own.

They are a shambles and I would never use them again,we had nightmares with them getting names incorrect and writing letters to the wrong people, all in all incompetent and unprofessional
  • EVERYONE BEWARE OF DLG LEGAL SERVICES - DO NOT USE THEM

I had an accident early 2014 and because Direct Line were very good in organising a replacement car, repair garage and physio I decided to go with their legal company.

They are a nightmare, inefficient and absolutely hopeless as they are not solicitors only case handlers charging £275.00 per hour and operating out of South Africa, therefore coming under that country's complaints system.

I did complain their are details on their website. The address is in Leeds and they list the name of the person to complain to.

Nobody seems aware that you can "CHANGE YOUR SOLICITOR AT ANY TIME" if you are dissatisfied.

I did change to a local solicitor.

DLG have to transfer your file over to your new solicitor

Find out a good local one so that you can go and see them.

I STRESS DO NOT USE THEM
  • Avoid at all costs. I was run over on a cycle path (separate from the road) by a maniac school run mum and when I tried to claim via my household legal expenses insurance through DLG they completely fluffed it. I'm sure it was no coincidence the driver was also insured by direct line.
  • I've been in a 15 month battle with this lot over a non fault car accident, their incompetence is staggering but it's kind of reassuring to see it's not just me who's been treated so poorly!

I seem to think when I signed their paperwork I was told I couldn't instruct any other legal company to act on my behalf but it seems like this isn't the case? I've not been in this kind of situation before and I don't know if to sit it out with them or tell them to do one and attempt to get my costs back for the £2k worth of physio they told me they'd compensate me for and haven't..
