Once removed, will it be possible to refix a new handle with screws instead of rivets?
Thanks for the info so far, how much would you expect someone (who know's exactly what they are doing) to charge to change the handles (provided by me) for me?0 -

You'd likely need to tap threads into the metal so you can use fine-threaded machine screws to attach the handles. I've never seen self-tapping screws used for these installs.
NB I've seen a lot worse looking handles that the one in the pics...0 -

Agree... I've just got keys to our new house and problem is one of em is broken (handle snapped off), and downstairs they don't seem to open, almost as if glued shut, tried opening one with a bit of force and the handle is flexing, ready to snap. Was not aware these could be locked, so seems as tho glued..
Turns out the vendor was a **** left a few problems for us.0 -

Some models have a small "grub" screw that has a hex key (Allen key) fitting, that LOCKS the handle closed. Are you sure that is not what is stopping the windows opening ?0 -

Where might this screw be located in the pic above?
Thanks and will take a look tomorrow.0 -
I have to admit that I made that post before I had seen your expanded picture, in response to your saying that your handles seem to be "glued shut".
Looking at it now, it doesn't look like your handles have that locking screw.0 -

I found the locking screw (allen key slot) and managed to get the window open... result. The fact that you initially mentioned there ought to be one, made me take a good look and find it. :T
Thanks again peeps. I can live with two broken handles for now, as I can at least open and close the windows now and give the house a good airing.
PS Fyi the small hole on the handle (Next to the rotating pin) is where I inserted the allen key to unlock the window.0 -
