Awful Ear piercing - update

Had me ears pierced many years ago and about 6 or 7 years go I found one ear was painful when I wore earrings and so I stopped wearing them and after time one ear then the other closed up.
Today I decided to have them re done and after trying 4 jewellers who longer do them I went to a beauty salon in the next town.
The 2 ladies looked at my ears and as you could see where they had been pierced before I asked that they do them in the same place as they were perfect last time. I remember they put little marks on my ears and had me look at them in a mirror when they pierced the first time.
This time both ladies got a piercing gun and stood either side of me. One of them remarked that they had been pierced a bit high up the first time but I answered that they didn't seem so and the lady on my left said she thought the original pierce marks were in exactly the right place. So they proceeded to do the job, both firing at the same time 'on 3'.
I stupidly didn't look at them in the shop as I just assumed they were ok so I paid and caught the bus home.
Got in and looked at them and Im devastated. One is distinctly higher than the other, I can hold almost my full ear lobe below the stud on one ear but can only pinch the end of the other lobe. They also seem incredibly painful at the moment.
I rung the shop to say I wasn't happy as there is an obvious difference (even my partner can see it and I could cut 6 inches off my hair without him noticing!) The shop have basically said that they will do nothing about it as I had asked them to pierce where the original holes were. But clearly they haven't done, I can only assume that one of the ladies has not been able to see the original mark but has seem some kind of mark and thought it was the one but its in completely the wrong place.
I feel they should have marked them first but they say they didn't need to as they had been pierced before.
So now I feel really disgruntled and the more I look in the mirror the worse it seems to get. I'm just hoping that when I remove the studs and replace with something slightly bigger it wont be so noticeable or will it look worse?
anyone else got lob sided piercings and does it really matter?
Other half told me no one will notice if I keep moving my head:rotfl:
Todays update-
After 'putting up' with them and hoping it would not be too noticeable I have today decided that I cannot live with them so have decided to remove the ear-rings and let them heal up.
However, no matter how I try I cant get them out, Ive broken a fingernail trying to pull the stud of the back-clip. Both of them seem to be attached rock solid although they turn easily but will not come out.
Any suggestions to make it easier please as at this rate my ears are going to be soooo sore.:o

If you take the studs out now will the holes heal up? I think I'd be tempted to let them heal then go somewhere else and get them re-pierced again. I couldn't tolerate it myself, if one is higher than the other.0

I assume they would heal and I suppose I could go and get them done somewhere else and just let them do the one ear so it would match the correct one.
I think Im just annoyed that Ive just shelled out the £15 for a botched job that they wont agree to put right!0 -
Yeah I'd be annoyed about that as well. But would you trust them to put it right?
I'd go in and see them about it. Ask them if they'd be happy if it was their ears.0 -
I didn't think they were allowed to pierce over scar tissue anymore? It can be very dangerous
I got mine done in a tattoo/piercing salon for £5 with a needle. I'm terrified of needles and it didn't hurt AT ALL. She rubbed my lobes and put the clamp on and pierced slowly to make sure the needle went straight - which was the Issue with the previous closed up holes, they were wonky when I had them done with the gun so I would have to point one up putting in and one down.
They are perfect now!0 -
Everything about this screams WRONG to me.
1) Never get a piercing with a gun, they are unhygienic and blunt force trauma, get a trained piercer to use a needle (in a piercing studio, not a salon or shop)
2) Never get two piercings at the same time, one should be done, then the other. imagine what could have happened if u had jerked your head as they were piercing.
3) if they are in the wrong place, remove them, follow your care instructions (i hope you have some!!!) and wait 6months then see a real piercer.
I am a trained body piercer, so i know my stuff.0 -
That it pretty bizarre that they did them at the same time. Surely that takes twice the resources; two people, two guns. Why would they do that?0

I would just let them heal and go somewhere more professional. I'm surprised this was a beauty salon, as this sounds like something Claire's Accessories would do.
I certainly wouldn't trust them to put it right. I'd go to perhaps an actual body-piercing/tattoo studio, as ears will be a walk in the park compared to what they're usually asked to do.0 -
Guns! I didn't think they still used those! *shudder*
The fact they didn't even offer you a mirror to check them (which is presumably the reason you didn't look at them before you left?) screams to me never go back there. You've lost £15 but I wouldn't let them anywhere near my head to put it right. Take them out, let them heal, go and get them done with an actual needle by a professional, which will certainly be less painful especially with scar tissue.0 -
Is the original hole on the ear that was done too low clearly visible?
If it is, I think I would be inclined to go back to the salon and show them the piercings - presumably from what you've said, it's pretty obvious that they are uneven.
I know they've already declined over the phone but maybe a personal visit would get you a better result.
I would ask for a refund but would not - under any circumstances - allow them to attempt to put it right.
Personally, I wouldn't be happy with lop-sided earrings and I'm not sure if bigger earrings will cover the problem up.
I think I'd be inclined to let them heal again and then go to a proper piercing place.
A friend of mine had the top of her ear (cartilage) pierced at a popular high street shop (selling cheap earrings & jewellery, headbands etc).
A few weeks later she developed a lump and had to take the earring out, her GP told her it was infected.
Although she'd signed a disclaimer saying piercing of cartilage was subject to risks, we wrote a pretty good letter and she was sent a refund for the full amount (we were both pretty gob-smacked, TBH).0 -
Personally, I'd remove either one or both of them and allow them to heal up. I'd then go to my local tattoo shop who have a trained piercer and ask their advice. I thought they could not pierce in the same place twice due to scar tissue, but a properly trained piercer will be able to advise.
And never get anything pierced with a gun. If they bring the gun out, walk away.0
