Any suggestions please. I think we are guilty of lethargy more than anything else in not switching our phone/broadband supplier but we have had various family crisis over the last 18 months. Anyway today I finally sorted out the electricity but I now need some advice as to phone/broadband.
At the moment we have BT for phone line and supply and we are option 2 with pack one of calling features and about £10 a month of calls so our bill is about £25 a month. I think though we really need option 3, free all day local and national calls - my daughter is a student two hours away and my Dad is over 80 and lives an hour away. But there is quite jump in price between the two packages.
We are on a very old Orange broadband contract from orange from the Freeserve days from about 4 years ago and pay a huge £27.99 a month. We live so far from the exchange we only get 2.6 meg. When we had a problem before they said that we could be switched to £19.99 as a new customer but I imagine that would tie us into a new 18 month contract. My gang seem to download a lot of films and music and quite often three of us are working on laptops or computers all at the same time so we really need unlimited access .
I did originally think of going over to Sky for all three phone, broadband and sky - we pay £21 for Sky for a basic package, again been with them a very long time and we dont have movies or sport. But we would still get a line rental bill from BT for whatever it is, £12 odd including the vat.
I then was then advised to look at Talk Talk so I had a look at the talk Talk 3 package which seems OK and would save us loads and would include the line rental, phone calls and broadband. It now seems to include international calls which we never make though. I also want to know how you get billed for mobile calls and to o845 and 08456 and 0870 numbers.
I also rang Talk Talk and they said over the phone they can order it straight away but if I do it online I get a £10 credit but it seems to have an early August date.
Sky I think I will need to sort out seperatley, maybe with this new sky plus thing
Anyway any suggestions.

I would be very wary of letting Talk Talk take over your line rental, you will find that the only broadband service you will be able to get is theirs.
Also in the event of a line fault you will have to go through their renowned customer service, they will then have to go through BT to get it fixed.
Do you think that BT will give any priority to someone else's customer?
In my case I pay BT line rental £12 ish per month and use TT Option one for calls.
Sky + with 2 mixes for £15 per month
Sky mid broadband (up to 8mbps)for £5.00 per month
So overall I'm paying £32 pm plus any call charges.
Just my opinion of course. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
