unpaid case opened against me but I have paid! what can I do?

I have had an unpaid case opened against me, thing is I paid the same day.

I know what has happened the payment is showing as a timer awaiting authorisation, there is nothing I can do about it, the seller has to sort it at their end.

There is no option for me to tell the seller this the only thing I can click on in the message is 'pay now'.

What can I do? they are a new seller so I want my answer to be reordered on the case file and not just me sending them a message via the contact section. I don't want a strike against me as I have paid. I don't understand how they could open the case when I have sent payment!

OK, as a seller I have had this - I have no idea why it happens though.

Someone bought something and I got an email from Paypal saying it was an echeque clearance (this is what the timer means) but there was no record of the payment showing alongside the item on eBay. It was only because I saw the payment coming I was aware of it, it is rare that echeques come through now.

Log into Paypal and get the transaction number and send this to the buyer via the dispute, the buyer can then close it. If it is a high volume seller with lots of staff it could be very easily missed, I work for myself with just me so I marked it paid for manually.

    HTH.

thanks it not an echeque but I know what you mean I have come across this before

The issue is I cannot contact them on record via the dispute, there is no option to do that, just a pay now option. The only thing I can do is send a message via contact seller. I will just have to hope they sort it out otherwise when ebay come to review the case it will look like I have done nothing about it.

Open a chat with ebay and tell them what you are trying to do.

Yes, I agree - do Live Chat while sitting eating your dinner or something. I think they are 24/7 but I can usually get through right away in the evenings. To be honest, they have never been more than helpful on there. I had a newbie return something then decline the cancellation request so I contacted them and they sorted it out there and then and gave me the fees back.

The timer means the seller has typed their PayPal ID incorrectly on the listing.

Personally I would phone eBay not use lIve chat and explain you have paid and the seller does not understand what they are doing. You can also message the seller and tell them what they have done.

Thanks I knew it was something like that it has happened before and if I remember it was a pain to sort out, however on that occasion the seller contacted me first before opening a case and we sorted it between us.

I don't understand how the seller managed to open a case in this instance, as it must show as I have done my bit even though they haven't done theirs.

I will contact live chat later and update for future reference if anyone else finds themselves in this situation.

I spoke with live chat, they weren't very helpful but to be fair there was not a lot they could do. I asked how the seller was able to open a case when I had paid, they didn't have an answer just told me to contact them via contact seller. They have put a note on my file so if I do get a strike due to this it will be removed. I then asked what would happen with the item as if the seller pursues the case and wins (which they will do as I am unable to put my side across on record) then they are free to re-sell that item to someone else when I paid for it! again they had no answer to this. I am sure it won't come to that but it seems very unfair if it does especially as I got the item for a good price.

Why don't you do what Soolin says and speak to Ebay direct? You will get far more help, will speak to Dublin and really Live Chat are useless!

Have you contacted the seller to let them know the transaction number from Paypal? Go to one of their other items and send them a message via that

I have never had much luck on the phone to them and it costs to call. I wanted to do live chat so I have a record of the conversation at least this way I know there is something in writing putting my side across.

Yes I have sent the seller a message advising transaction code I even sent them a screen shot of the payment page (taking out my bank details etc)

I will give them a few days and hopefully hear something back.
