MoneySaving Poll: Do you check your credit files?

Do you check your credit files?
In the last five years, credit checking has become far more important. It decides whether you get mortgages, contract mobiles, credit cards, even whether you can pay for energy the cheapest way.
One small error on your files, which are held at Callcredit, Equifax and Experian, can cause havoc.
So how often do you check? Which is the nearest to your situation?

I have never checked, I have no reason to check and I would not even know how to check.0

Noddle monthly, but the poll doesn't cover that option."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Needs the option - ' when there's a problem'
I think a lot of people will only check when they have been turned down for a product they expected to get.0 -
Yes, Noodle here too, every month
I have been trying to improve my credit score and have gone from 2/5 to 4/5 so I think that's good

Hi Tiglath,
Noddle is part of the Callcredit group - hope that helps!0 -
Hi Tiglath,

Those of us who use Noddle aren't paying a monthly subscription so "I have an ongoing credit monitoring product with one agency" doesn't really fit, but the option "I check my credit files with at least one agency a year" doesn't seem strong enough.0 -
I've gone from never having a problem with getting credit for most of my life to being in poverty and probably never being able to get credit, so there's really been no point for me. I already know I don't stand a chance of getting credit now. If I ever have a decent income again it'd be worth checking and making sure they're all accurate and I'd do that.0
