Many of you may already know anyway but at last Sky,as have other companies, have now had to abandon using the expensive 0844 tel no and have a new one,to be found on their website. Those people who get free tel calls in with their package can now phone up and not worry about having to hang on for ages!
This also applies to the 0871 numbers as well

About time. Customer service numbers should never have attracted an extra cost in the first place.0

And the Job Centre helplines used 0845 numbers as well. A disgrace.0

For those who were wondering, Sky's main number has changed from 0844 241 4141 to 0344 241 4141.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I thought companies were banned from using the 084 and 087 nos?0

That makes a change, it is usually new customers who get the cheap or freephone numbers and best offers!
Even before this change, when the only numbers given were the 0844 or 0871,i have always managed to find an alternative number via the say no to 0870 website. They are there if you look hard enough.0
