Shekels for teenager travelling with another family

My early teens offspring is travelling to Israel with a friend and their family
I want them to have access to money out there but I don't want to send them off with a fistful of dollars (shekels).
Other that asking the accompanying parents to be surrogate bankers is there an easy way to provide shekels in a reasonably safe way?
I was thinking of a cash card but these seem to be denominated in USD/EUR (and a few other currencies) but not Israeli Shekels.
Any advice appreciated
