How Do I Get Out Of Bt Broadband Contract

I have been with BT Broadband since December, at first the speed was acceptable, but after a couple of weeks it dropped down to 128k. They offer up to 8meg but we know that our line can only support 2meg, which was ok with us. We were previously with AOL and we used to get almost 2meg. Ever since I have been bombarding them with Emails / Calls complaining about the service, and following their instructions with no joy. I’m going round in circles now with them saying its a line fault and the line fault department saying the line is fine, they have promised to send an engineer out 3 times and haven’t. We are paying £26 a month for this and its rubbish. I have cancelled the direct debit now and have told them that I will happily pay for the phone but I’m not paying for the Internet.

Is there anyway I can get out of this contract?

Thanks in advance.

Of course, your not getting anywhere near 1meg, and on three occasions you have took time off work for an engineer to solve the issue, who didnt turn up, in accordance to the T&C of the contract, THEY have breached it.

Call them back, and ask to be put straight through to the retentions dept, tell them you are cancelling the service, due to the fact that you feel they have breached the contract, you are not satisfied and no longer wish to be fobbed off by them. On the grounds of the Contract, they have breached it already, rendering it worthless, should they wish it, you can provide evidence of the breach should they wish to take the matter to court. (They wont!).
