Bought a frost free fridge freezer for my 90 year old Aunt 12 months ago and still have the receipt. My Aunt has just gone into a rest home so I have had to clear her flat in doing so unplug to clean the fridge freezer and found out that was not a frost free as sold. I need to go back to the shop to sort it out ,what are my rights on the receipt it states frost free and that is what I paid for.

Does the receipt specify a model and brand?

What is the make and model of the freezer? How have you identified that it does not have the auto defrost mechanism?0

It is a Candy CSC1365 WE when they first brought the fridge freezer i was there but because it had to fit under a shelf they had got the wrong one and had to reorder what we assumed was the right one, i was not there when they delivered this one the supplier code was on the back which i could not get to so could not register the guarantee. We had no reason to suspect it was not the frost free model until I had to unplug to clean it out. The receipt says Candy frost free fridge freezer.0

Just to say when taking the drawers of the freezer out the shelves where thick with ice that should not have been there with a frost free.0

If she hadn't been closing the door properly, there can still be a build up of ice, which the freezer wouldn't be able to clear. My mum who is 86 had similar issues and this was the cause. She said she left it partially ajar, as the freezer was hard to open for her. It seemed to stick to the body and even I found it was hard to open otherwise.0

The only frost free Candy fridge/freezers I can find on their site appear to be built in ones, not free standingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I have printed out the spec for the Candy CSC 1365 WE and it says not frost free so according to the receipt I have paid £329 for a frost free which it is not.0

Now you have identified that the model you paid for was not the model supplied you need to go back to the shop and see what they say.
Assuming the one you got was cheaper than the one you paid for then you should, as a minimum, be offered a partial refund of the difference.
