These vehicles that go racing past at 60mph in the 40mph average speed check, I believe these to be the same vehicles that are sat at the red light when I pull up next to them
:P0 -
The ones that were near my place worked .

I saw a scrap metal collector fly through at about 80 yesterday all the way. I suspect his address is pretty vague and no enforcement company would ever bother to try and collect. I'm not sure how they enforce temporary tourist or shred vehicles either.0

I assume, based on the fact HGV's don't slow down for the ones with a "50" designation, that the collected wisdom is that they won't trigger unless you are over 56mph.0

I'm not sure whether they are a SPECS. They are the ones with the tall yellow poles holding the camera which are set at intervals along the road. They are set up specifically for the road work areas. They also have them on some national speed limit roads too.
Yes these sound like SPECS camera's.0 -
I usually go through them at just over 55mph on my speedo unless I don't think the conditions are safe enough or traffic prevents me. This equates to around 52-53mph on the sat nav. I have done this ever since having read the below article, and touch wood haven't had a fine several years on from any motorway average speed cameras.

The answer is yes, though as above , the speed threshold will probably nearer 60mph.
The trouble is that a lot of drivers don't understand how they work so they slow down to go through the 1st sensor and then speed up.
In fact you could go through the 1st sensor at 100 mph as long as you then slow down enough that your average between any 2 sensors is under 50 mph.
The vehicle is registered by number plate recognition going through the entry and exit sensors and a computer works out the average speed.
I've met several people now who believed they worked by taking the average of the speed readings. So they thought as long as they were doing 50 at each camera, they'd be fine doing whatever speed they wanted in between. :wall:0 -

But thanks i'm going the M3 hook way tonight so will take it easy there.0
