5 Live is not a sports channel, although they do have the main sporting events on it, the sports channel is 5 Live Extra on DAB
According to the BBC it is "the rolling News, Sport and Debate network from the BBC"

Therefore seems fair for it to increase the proportion of sports coverage during a major sporting event.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

I just want them to broadcast any sport live at 10pm to keep Steven Nolan off the air! Football, golf, rugby ..... synchronised swimming - anything is preferable to that a*se. He has only 2 'modes' - sickly sweet sycophancy (with lots of pauses and hesitancy, for effect), or, more usually, a really nasty hectoring tone as he labours the same point ad nauseam. Love Five Live - hate Steven Nolan!

Husband is ecstatic tonight! He is away for the night and has just found the Germany shirt I packed for him so he can celebrate the result against Portugal in his hotel room. How sad is it that he gets spat at if he wears it out in this country?

Off to find our German bunting. I will hang it in the lounge as I don't fancy having our windows put through.

Looking forward to a glass of zinfadel and Ghana v USA in an hour. :T

I don't like any kind of drama series that is aired on ITV or BBC yet they seem to take up most evening time slots
and they are on almost every week of the year. Soaps, cookery and (no)Talent shows bung up tv schedules constantly. I would have said that maybe they are the ones which need to be shepherded off to a separate channel but they already have a couple - bbc1 and itv!

Don't worry, once England are knocked out later this week, the English media will forget there's a world cup going on.
The media might (I don't know as I haven't bought papers since the70s) but the TV companies don't - they've paid for the footie so they will sure as hell screen it - at least I assume so - I haven't turned the TV on for a week now.

I don't like football and am totally uninterested in the World Cup, I also don't like the soaps either, but it isn't just on the telly, you go to the supermarket and there are banners up everywhere and extra World Cup marketing on many products, clothes shops selling World Cup merchandising is another, even at the petrol station when I go to fill my car up, so you can't just switch the tv off and get away from it.

Somebody should market England Lions bog paper. They'd sell plenty in Scotland.

I rest my case. There's even proper leading news stories on the bbc/sky now. You English never learn, do you?

I can't stand football. However, I think it is crucially important that major sporting events remain on free to view channels.

Not everyone can afford Sky, then an upgrade to Sky Sport!

This sums it up perfectly for me.

Major events such as World cup should be free to air so anyone who wants to watch it...can.
I understand why some people may be put out about the amount of football on, but let's be honest, soaps are on most days all year around and I'm sure plenty of people (myself included) despise those!
Live and let live. Don't like football? Watch a different channel or do something else - plenty of choices to be found in life.
