For me much of these come down to being prepared. So, for example, I'll cook up extra chicken breasts to cut down and freeze, or freeze leftovers from joints. These can be quickly added to a stir fry or pasta.
If I'm cooking pasta, I'll make extra for next day. This will get added to a simple carbonara. (Sweat off a little onion and garlic, splash of white wine, pepper and herbs of choice, add any proteins (mushrooms, ham, bacon, chicken etc) and then stir in double cream. Mix in or serve over pasta.)
I make up a couple of litres of tomato sauce at a time (the Kilner style jars and bottles from ikea are brilliant and dirt cheap), it makes no odds to me whether I'm making it for one meal or four, so I may as well plan ahead!
Cheap noodles bulk out any meal, as does quick cook rice which can easily and quickly be turned into an egg fried rice with any veggies and proteins added in.
Ten minutes max, I couldn't put ready meals in the microwave and have them that fast for all of us.

Have you tried Jamie's 15 minute meals, I found the first go took about 25 minutes on the ones we have had, but after that you know what you are doing so you can easily hit the 15 minutes.
If you get straight to wok noodles you can make a meal in 3 minutes minus chopping time if you don't buy ready cut veg.0 -

I've made it a few times and it's top drawer
Thanks it does look rather tasty.
In her recent cooking series Mary Berry made tagliatelle carbonara using Proscuitto ham and creme fraiche. It looked delicious and was made in minutes. I scribbled the recipe down and promptly lost it! If anybody else got the recipe, I would be grateful!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. After reading some of the things that be rustled up within minutes it makes you wonder why anyone would go all the way to the chippy; wait in a queue and then have to travel back home for something that's thought of as fastfood.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions

I love the idea of frittata with sliced potatoes in, especially as I have a tin of potatoes in the cupboard (was going to make Jack Monroe's Saag aloo but never got round to it).
Stirfry is a great idea, yes nice and quick. I have chicken, beef and prawns in the freezer, so a good selection.
!!!!!! spaghetti, Cheesy/pesto pasta, why didn't I think of those!
thanks for the ideas, keep them coming please
