Selling clothes on ebay? Is it worth it? Is there a better alternative?

I just want to make a bit of cash on my more expensive clothes - most have only been worn once or twice.

Is there another way of making money on 2nd hand clothes?

I got a house clearance of clothes a few years ago - some good, branded stuff.

Messy divorce, the lady put an ad in the paper and wanted everything to go at once, rather than people picking though it.

Anyway, I tried some on eBay and got fed up, so did a car boot with JUST clothes.

Had two rails (one for men, one for womens) and the table at the front was babies/chidrens. (got the kids stuff elsewhere)

did really well out of it. Was amazed at how fast the baby stuff sold. Also the amount of Polish blokes who bought stuff.

Everything was £3 or offers on multiples.

Think I sold over 400 items that day. The remaining 100 or so I stuck on eBay as a job lot/resell and listed them at £50 BIN (50p per item) and they sold instantly.

Clothes , even good ones, don't sell at my local car boots. We do have a number of people who turn up with nothing but clothes selling them at 50p a go and then dropping to 20p towards the end.

The TV programme Delboys and Dealers had a clothes seller who decided to use her front room as a pop up shop and was selling at £3 a pop.

As long as you describe clothes accurately and honestly then 99% of buyers will be happy. Wherever you sell you will get the 1% of dodgy buyers. I have sold lots of designer clothes that are used on Ebay and made good money but had a few problems. You have the occasional problem whatever you sell though

You could try selling them to someone like Musicmagpie but they are unlikely to give you anywhere near the same as you can get selling on Ebay.

Clothes are one thing I would hesitate to sell on eBay, when I used to sell them it was a nightmare as people always bought the size they wanted to be and not the size they actually wore.

The amount of returns I had compared to now was incredible and the costs of returns is going to be high .

^This. ebay is a nightmare for clothes. I'd say car boots or Facebook. Clothes actually sell really well on the local sales pages on FB.

Take them to the cash for clothes places that seem to be popping up all over the place.

At least you'll get paid cash and they'll be gone.

Yeah its 60p per KG here but will only take clothes. A few of the other places are 45p but will take anything - shoes, bedding, towels etc,
