    Hi Pippi

Just popped in to wish you all the very best to you, TRG and the hounds in your new abode

Hope all goes well with the chooks. I must admit that being a daft Sassernach when I first read your previous diary I assumed chooks were small people and thought that when you said that you and TRG were hoping for "more chooks" when you moved, that small Pippis and RGs were on the cards!........ but I think I understand now..............:rotfl:

hey, just saying hello so am here and subscribed. LOVE your diary XXXXXX

Aw thanks bufflet - when I get back to 'normal internet browsing' I'll catch up with you all.

    Waves back.
Ooooh, Pippi, I can lob you some of our tatties! As we are up & away tomorrow, we emptied the tattie bag this morning and they are marvellous specimens :D Some to take with us and some to keep safe til we get back. Now we just have to rely on some good soul watering our tub of carrots & parsnips whilst we are away

See you soon  Happy chook gathering!

Hopefully by the time you get back they'll be installed.

    Happy holidays.

    I have tattie envy.

    Happy shiny new diary.

    Fashionable that is.

Hope you're well - we must catch up :)

Well Beanie you'd be proud - nine of us a I fed and there's leftovers.

    :D

And I stuck to the plan and put out plenty bread/salad.

All went down a treat - 9 mouths well fed with fruit for afters (lets call that a lazy lasses pudding.) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: (4 dogs here today too - man was that a bit busy!)

Went to the food fayre today and gorged on lobster (TRG's treat) - £11 which isn't cheap but we shared and ate in sunshine on the pier. That was priceless. And yummy.

Peedie hoovered up after other alfresco diners. I'm almost thinking of hiring him out.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm tired and probably not long for this planet so bidding you all a good night.

    NSD for me :)

...current cheese status...mild cheddar, cheshire, blue brie, last of the Orkney smoked.

    No eggs
We're not doing as well as you on the cheese front - a slighly mouldy piece of posh cheddar & 1/2 tub of marscapone!

We do though have eggs - about 1 dozen extra large beauties from the local farm shop!
...I hope the dogs didn't lick you to death...

The doggies were on their best behaviour and even left room on the sofa for a wee snooze...:D...much needed after B-Day week! - I'm not young enough for all this celebrating!
...Does a favour pet and tell us what you're at over the weekend...

Nothing too exciting my dear (other than recovering) - mostly chores and more chores - the list completed today as follows...
    • pick up box of mail order teas from post office (our moronic post-man rang the doorbell three times on Thursday morning - I couldn't answer as was in the middle of a time sensitive exam!)
    • glass bottles (they once homed wine) to the village car-park to sort into the recycle bins
    • stop off at the library & visit with dahling librarian friend - and pick up some cook books in true Greying style;)
    • stop off at the [STRIKE]pharmacy[/STRIKE] chemist and pick up some dressing to cover up stitches 'til they come out
    • drop off OH's good shoes for reheeling - he's worn them out & we've a family funeral to attend
    • picked up sympathy card to send as funeral is two weeks away
    • browsed travelling italian market that pitches up in nearest town twice a year - bought some baklava - it's not the least bit italian but oh soooooo good with a hot cuppa - also had a hot bbq sausage for lunch - supposedly italian but tasted like polish keilbasa to me!
    • then home for a fun filled afternoon of laundry - sun's out so washing line is getting good use!
    • evening meal was a new recipe - quite yum - yeast-free pizza - the dough remined me of a cooked naan - was made with yogurt! - OH complemented it so definately a keeper!
Tomorrow's fun involves more potted flowering plants from farm shop to spruce up garden, stock take the freezer and cupboard to do a meal plan, getting b-day week piccies off camera and onto OH's fb page & writing out list upon list in the planner!

(Did you realize you are not the only one with a list writing addiction? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)

...before you slumber, pop a tea towel over the elderflower coridal steeping away. Worth gold that stuff is....

...sorry love I'm useless at helping with homemade hooch - yogurt, jam & bread I can do but not cordial, ginger beer or pickles!

BTW your garden pictures on t'other side are lovely - having a bit of shed envy atm!!!:D

    Hi Pippi.

Lovely new diary and welcome back to the mainland. Hope everything goes swimmingly for you and TRG.

Chooks sound fab. I'm not sure what husky would do....put the fear of god up the poor wee things whilst nicking their food. Boy kitten was sleeping in her basket yesterday while she napped on the floor beside, maybe there's hope for them all yet.

    xx

Of course! - recipes are always better shared! (this one is based on something I cut out of a Wa!tr0se magazine)

    • 200g self-raising flour (plus xtra for rolling)
    • 2 tblsps finely chopped fresh herbs (yesterday about 3 springs rosemary as that what needed pruning in the garden ;))
    • 0.5 tsp baking powder
    • 0.5 tsp fine table salt
    • 200mL whole milk natural yogurt (there is no added fat in this dough so the full fat version makes this soft and pliable)
Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl with a wooden spoon. Gently knead in bowl - dough will be sticky - don't add more flour! Cover bowl with cling film and leave to rest for 20-30 minutes at room temperature - the colder the room, the longer the time - resist placing it near a heat source or the yogurt will start to smell a bit sour.

Preheat the oven grill to high. Divide dough into four pieces for individual pizzas. Roll each piece (one at a time) to 0.5cm thick on a very lightly floured board with a very lightly floured rolling pin - try to keep dough a sticky as possible. Preheat a cast iron pan or flat grill surface - pizzas are cooked one at a time. Once pan is hot, add the dough circle (dry pan) and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until there are small black flecks appearing.

Transfer pizza base to pan, rub with garlic, top with olive oil or sauce of your choice (tomato or pesto or olive or eggplant) lightly top with veg and/or meat - top lightly with cheese of your choice, drizzle with a vinegrette of your choice & pop under the grill for 3-5 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh herbs. Repeat with other three dough pieces, serving up as they come out of the oven!

Super summery fare, great for using up leftovers from the fridge!

    Enjoy!:D
