I am starting to feel positively rude with the reading of diaries I am doing and the complete lack of introducing myself.
So, hello there all, I know some of you - I read about you.
Scarey huh?
I too am trying to be better.
Usually I don't have too much time, but two weeks off after surgery have meant I've read many a diary in that time........
How is the chicken getting going? I have three left (the jack russell got two - shame on me, he learnt to open the gate!) - and only one is laying this year, so I may add to the flock I think.
I have to think about things for a long time though - so I'm still thinking.
Loving your diary - I find them really inspiring.0 -
Congrats my darlingist on your new diary and the start of the next chapter.....
Do you need me to send granddad up to help you settle the chooks in< runs away very very fast :rotfl: >

Muchly relieved to hear that Bee-Troublesome finally get their collective a's into gear and got you all connected, and even more relieved to find that the kettles on....

Oh you're very kind and how lovely of you to pop by - I hope you're recovering from the surgery. Gentle hugs.
Glad you know everyone, makes things much easier eh - all in it together.
Chooks well I'm currently on operation 'keep haggis out, keep foxes out, keep the chooks in' - so its going slower than hoped. I'm sorry you've lost a couple of yours, pesky mutts.
Peedie (the older, much wiser (aka lazier) hound bum butts the chooks out of the way to eat their grub. Haggis is a bit more pesky so I'm going to really make the place secure. Hence the delay and also the rain seriously affected play this afternoon.
But, dear hearts, as I told Peedie, its still that strange 'up and down' but not 'sideways' rain, which we are finding a bit odd.
Lovely to see you I hope you pop by again.Congrats my darlingist on your new diary and the start of the next chapter.....

Grandad can come soon, when I've 'strongly' figured out where the greenhouse is going and I'm not up for suggestions.

Where else would we find you indeed now that you're back from your galavantations.
(which is a real word)
I've checked out the local breweries for you and have yet to check out the cheese place.
But, I'll do it for you, just cos I'm nice, just saying.
Missed you all too - I've taken to nattering to the dogs about reduced food and alike.
Between you and I, they're not as keen on the MSE stuff as you'd likely hope.
Who'd have thunk huh?
Laters dudes. Time for bed. Earliest I've been out in the garden is 5.37am due to excitement and sunshine.
Pips is a tired lass.
Have a great weekend, whatever you're upto.
Mooomin we'll cheer you on from the sidelines, goodluck with your 10k.

No eggs
Thanks for sweeping I hope the dogs didn't lick you to death.
Does a favour pet and tell us what you're at over the weekend.
And, before you slumber, pop a tea towel over the elderflower coridal steeping away. Worth gold that stuff is.

Would love chooks but OH refuses, have 2 year old mad golden retriever who digs everything up, almost down under at moment retrieving tree roots, so have had to convert veg patch into container garden that I can block off more successfully. Strawberries doing really well, as are herbs, toms not so much, loads of leaves, peas and beans, broccoli doing ok I think. Went on holiday so did not do potato bags this year, but missing the idea of delving to find them so will have to go back to them next year. Have really got into making bread, now that I have discovered it practically makes itself, and OH makes his own beer.
Will have to follow your chook adventures vicariously lol0 -
Morning these here lands!
TDQ - thanks for letting us know what you're upto. There's something quite lovely about pulling up and finding your own tatties eh? Sounds like you're busy. Love all that you're doing. I got given a bread book - from a series of these from work when I left - so far I've only done flat breads but we did those on the first night with our tea - start as you mean to go on I say.
I'll let you know re the chooks - I'm thinking longer term they'll fair well in a 'fruit cage' type affair under trees in the garden but the younger dog is a worry so I'm taking time now to sort the hen palace properly.
Up with the skylarks - day ahead to plan - folks here later but want to make the most of the day too. I made the tea yesterday so just a bit chores then a day of adventures/fun to be had.
Collected the first cordial flowerheads last night - TRG wants them in a low calorie version so they're steeping in a low sweetener syrup. Can't say so far I'm convinced. Whilst this won't perserve them the thought it we can freeze them as ice-cubes and use them like that. Whilst the idea is genius, can't say so far the taste is that good. We'll see.
Bloglet about garden done and photos went it backwards - so if you do peek at it - mind and walk backwards.
Right day to seize and all that, despite the snoring hounds beside me.

House cleaned, elderflower cordial 'shhzzed' and the flowers have been topped up in the house.
TRG does a mean job of hoovering. I've refilled the logs/sticks and done the recycling.
Our bottle bank is in the middle of the village, this week, emptied the wine bottles of last years cordial and strained them to get rid of a bit of the dregs, bottled them in new clean bottles. Man what a walk of shame that was, dumping wine bottles whilst saying in my head 'they had CORDIAL in them, OK.
Reduced bread out for later - I know how to treat my guests.
Quick check of banks then we're awa' oot for the day.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
