If you've got a car and can rustle up some English Heritage vouchers (or don't mind splashing for the entrance fee) Audley End House is an amazing place to spend the day - http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/audley-end-house-and-gardens/

The Fitzwilliam museum is interesting too, if the weather's bad.

OH and I only got to spend 1 day there sadly, but found the 24hr ticket for the open air bus tour good, you can hop off and hop on at any of the designated stops. Have a good time.:D

P.S. It is double decker so can sit in the dry downstairs if needed.
