Not sure if it is different in Scotland (?) but what we do in our family is to have the cars insured fully comp with multiple named drivers. OH has me as a named driver on his truck insurance as it apparently makes it cheaper - even though it would be downright dangerous if I drove it :rotfl:

For my car, it is insured for me (obviously) with OH and my daughter, who borrows it sometimes, as named drivers, all fully comp :)

It doesn't seem to make it more expensive, though it might do I guess if one of the potential drivers had recent insurance claims or driving convictions. What do others do?

Thanks Dawn I had wondered if that would be the way forward, we're both older and with no claims and convictions.

I'll give them a phone in a bit. :) thank you.

Congrats on the great job news Pippi! It really sounds like a perfect fit for you. And thanks for the tattie tips!

We do the same as Dawn with the cars, it doesn't seem to add a huge amount to the cost.

We're also the same as Dawn - fully comp with the other as named driver on both and having me on Mr Minx's policy brought it down by £150 a year. Currently paying £195 a year for mine (I could get it down to about £150 after cashback, but that would mean switching to an insurance company I don't hear good things about) and £240 for his new mid-life-crisis-mobile ;), that includes business mileage on both.

Just popping my head around the door to say that I have ordered snowdrops from "your" gardens:D I haven't found any for sale near to me, I am so thrilled to now have a garden with Snowdrops, for the last 30 years they just would not survive in my garden in Dorset, I tried over several years, but they just did not like it there:( Last year I split some of the clumps and they have been lovely. It is my aim to have them growing everywhere in my 60ft tree and shrub border (some of the trees belong to next door but we get the benefit and the leaves for leaf mould, although I am not sure that OH is as delighted by it as I am :rotfl:

Did you see all those Snowdrops in the gardens in Cheshire on Countryfile yesterday?

I hope that you are recovering from all the nasty bugs (not garden ones) and that Spring is on the way:D

  • Morning lands

Finally my laptop charger arrived! Thanks to Dawn W and Caz for the car info we did exactly what you said. :) perfect and saved £30 by going online after we phoned and changing the policy ourselves.

    :D

Its been a busy week, I'm now on sun/mon/tue - so trying to adjust to that. Laptop cable giving up the ghost not great I have to say. But, thats life I guess. Work (womble) have said I can expense it. So aside the inconvenience not much hassle to me. DS has student 'prime' so he orderred it and saved me any delivery :)

    Nice lad.

Maddiemay I didn't see the program but having a chance I hope later to watch it on catchuptv. Having planted thousands of snowdrops the other day I can tell you our secret technique.

Get a ladies border spade or a normal spade. Slice it into the soil and wiggle it. Try to get it about a spades depth in or three quarters. Take a handful of snow drops and drop them into the slit, pop the turf down.

OK so to begin with you look like you have snow drop fringes everywhere, you'll know what I mean when you do it. But next year they'll come up lovely and it means as they're planted in skinny rows they've room to bulk up on both sides :)

But, there are lots of ways to plant them. I managed to plant a couple thousand in about an hour. Making lots of 'slits' first then marching around on my knees planting, but you'll find your own way! Goodluck.

:) I wonder if I sorted your order, I'm on online stuff at the mo.

So yesterday was mainly gardening, popping into see a pal about a garden and have a catch up

I must now do banks etc and check how the lands lie. Managed to get my invoice in for womble land, lets hope I've been paid.
Garden pays quickly so I'm putting it into saver and seeing how the monthly adds up.

    :)

So banks, cuppa, etc. Hens fed, dogs snoring. Must make a plan for today, kettle on first though.

Any nice mothers day plans out there :)

    Morning Pippi :hello:

Love lovely snowdrops :j :j Never managed to make any grow! I've only ever planted about 4 though so not made much effort... :o

Might pick your brains at some point about how to make my unwieldy garden look relatively smart and low maintenance if/when we sell it

(you'll be pleased to know we're choosing new house mostly on whether it has room for chickens :D Well, Mr Cheery has other ideas, of course :rotfl: but for me it's all about the chickens :D )

    Hope you're jolly xx
