Raised patio - retaining wall

To be fair I wouldn't have gone that close to the fence/gravel boards... if 3" would save all that aggro it would have been worth it.
Just my opinion tho
I wouldn't have done so either - it's quite reasonable of the neighbours to assume that their fence is supporting the new patio because the slabs are so close. It's also going to very difficult for them to replace posts in the future without disturbing your patio.
Dan - as you're confident the slabs would retain the patio if the fence was removed, tell them that but I don't think they are being awkward in this instance by expressing concerns.0 -
but the posts are attached to the gravel boards , you cant `replace` the posts ?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

The posts are not normally attached to the gravel boards. The posts are normally concreted in at the bases and then the gravel boards and fence panels are slotted in. If one of those posts ever breaks (unlikely I know) they might have trouble digging out the foundation to replace it (because your patio is now covering half of the foundation).0

OK , thanks , but that must mean , whatever it was that was `our side`would have to be dug up , if the post breaks? , wether it was a patio , a rockery , lawn , etc etc ? , so my point being , you cant surely keep your garden flat and ready for excavation?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Concrete posts don't last for ever and do need to be replaced eventually.
What a botched job!
Why are six of your slabs leaning on your neighbours wooden fence then?
Why is your upended slab touching their wooden fence panel?
You have definitely overstepped the mark and your neighbours have every right to be concerned, living next to such an inconsiderate idiot. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Your smaller circle , the slab isnt touching their fence , just called home , and asked my wife to check those slabs , they are leaning on the fence post , half of which is on our land , obviouslyNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Agree with this - surely the neighbour shouldn't be putting the fence footings in Dan-Dan's garden?
As far as I can see, the patio has been built well within the perimeter (less than 2 inches :rotfl:)0
