Really dull question - individual or family laundry baskets??

Thanks to everyone for all of your comments. I really, really appreciate it and it's v interesting to read what others do.... It always gives you something that you hadn't considered before.
I've now been looking at different baskets on the net.
I had a look at your options Lil_Me. They were great with 3 sections but I think I'd maybe like a lid to hide things away.
A couple of light/dark options are: (and you're right Lil_me, I couldn't really find triple baskets)

This one looks v swish but is v expensive, could be a nightmare to keep clean and shiny and looks like it only has one big linen bag which has two sections so I don't think you can lift each compartment out separately to take downstairs, which would be useful.

This is the other option. Looks nice enough to have out on the landing but again looks like it has one bag.
Am I being daft? Do they only come with one bag ever?
Laundry gurus, can you assist????
I'm now thinking one big basket might be best. When I go back to work, I imagine that I'll forget to go into DS's room to empty his basket and he'll have to go to nursey naked. Which wouldn't be good....
Thanks again - and especially for not making me feel freaky with my question. DH would have a fit if he found out.

When we had six kids at home I had a triple sorter in the laundry room with one side for darks, the middle for lights, and the third compartment for 'other stuff' LOL One full compartment equaled one full load of washing.
Now we are down to usually four of us, and I have less laundry room, I have one big plastic corner container is the cupboard in the laundry. I find it a pain because I have to tip everything out to sort the loads.
Containers with lids are no good in my home, things just end up on top of it, somehow the kids don't quite know how to lift lids up. :rolleyes:If there is to be any peace, it will come through being, not having - Henry MillerM.A.C.A.W Member . . Wannabe Flybaby0 -
My children have been sorting/loading/hanging out laundry since they were very little. They each have their own laundry bin, and when they have a partial load they ask around for more stuff.
I think I'm the only one I know whose children have changed their own sheets from the age of 8 onwards, am I cruel? (No I'm lazy).
Now I am very excited at my 3-compartment laundry bin, and now that the children are only living at home part-time I'm going to amalgamate the laundry. I was wondering whether to e-bay an assortment of laundry bins.........0 -
We have one smallish laundry basket in our bedroom. This is for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 under 5's). Each morning I empty in and bring the lot downstairs where I have IKEA bags piled up next to the wasing machine. Washing gets dumped into top bag.
When I have a moment I sort into seperate bags (each bag is a seperate wash, white, dark, colours, pinks- I have girls). Then washes get done as and when it looks like bag is fullish or I know it's been around too long.
Bit haphazard but it works (at the moment)! I think I'm going to be aiming for OliveOly's system of getting the kids to do it, might have to wait til their abit older (4 & 2)! :cool:0 -
did a search for "laundry sorter" and came up with this http://www.bathroom-trends.co.uk/acatalog/Laundry_Baskets.html
separate bags AND they are colour coded. Good price too, Ithink I might get one of these. Pity it doesn't have flaps but I reckon I could fashion something easily enough.0 -
Looks like every poster on this thread so far is a girlie (apologies if not) so as a man can I just ask "What is a washing Basket?":rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
