We don't have one - the w/m is almost always on. It is quite a good discipline for keeping on top of the washing, but prob not very moneysaving, tut tut.

We have just one in the bathroom. Unfortunately my daughter prefers to use her bedroom and bathroom floors . . .

We have a double sided laundry basket in our bedroom which is close to the main bathroom. One side for lights and one side for darks. Have trained by husband and five children to put their washing in the correct side and I do a load or two everyday.

Its quite an attractive baskety thing so its not a problem in our room. No old laundry smells cos its done pretty often with a big family plus its got a lid on each side. Like a flap so really easy for the kids. No excuses for missing washing things. Kids know if its not in the basket its not washed so its their problem if their favourite top etc is not clean for them! Call me harsh if you like. I call it good family management. Can you tell Im quite bossy!!!

    I quite agree! ;)

I have just one laundry basket in the bathroom next to the washing machine, which holds approx 3 full loads of washing when full, and anything that isn't put in it doesn't get washed - simple as lol :D

I check it daily and if I have a full load of whites or darks the machine goes on, if not it's left to the next day. Towels and bedding are done weekly as a matter of course but don't get put in the basket.

We only have a laundry basket in the laundry room. We are lucky that we have a small room with the WM/TD and shelving in there. I keep all the cleaning stuff in there too, but NO i do not have any other laundry baskets.

Okay - I have a small wicker waste bin in my bedroom - keep with me here! As I leave my room every morning (ala Flylady style), I take my wicker basket and go to the children's rooms, choose what colour wash it is today and take out the appropriate smelly clothes! Then goes downstairs and straight into the washer. I do have a small laundry basket in the bathroom - which is on the ground floor, typically used for towels, dish clothes and tea towels. I find this is the only way that I remember to empty the childrens laundry bins and that I don't get behind on my laundry !!!

I love threads like these! Reading the details about people's day to day life things like laundry is great!

We have one basket in the bathroom, I love the idea of one for darks one for lights, but I am just training the kids to put their stuff in the basket at bathtime , its a bit much to expect them to separate the things out (they are 4 and 2).

We had the same basket in our old hose where the bathroom and landing were too small for it. We kept it then in the corner of our bedroom.

  • I have one bin on the landing outside the bathroom (small, so no room in there for it). Anything that wants washing goes in there and I empty it daily and take it to the wm to sort into white and dark I keep two baskets on top of the wm for this and when they have enough in them I do a wash.

It's me I have to watch out for not putting the washing in the bin, my mother was always on at me when I lived at home and although I'm improving I do slip occasionally.

    Hi

We have 1 basket on the landing and 1 in the utility room.

I take the dirty washing down stairs with me in the morning when i get up and put it into the basket in the utility room.

Then i can see at a glance when i need to do a load. Otherwise i'd forget about the laundry upstairs :o

I have a large slatted laundry chest with 2 canvas bags that can be easily removed. It lives on the landing because that is convenient for everybody. One side light, other side dark. If it isn't in there it doesn't get washed and if it's in the wrong side (eg white socks in with the dark stuff) then it might not get washed that week.

The washing machine is in the kitchen, so I don't keep any laundry there.
As I normally work full time and have to bring work home, I usually wash Thursday and Friday nights.

I aim to dry as much as I can on the line but also use the clothes horse and a hook that slots over a door. As I wash for at least 4 if not 5 I usually throw all the underwear in the tumble drier because life is too short to peg 70 socks and 35 pairs of drawers on the line, even if I had 105 clothes pegs!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

we have 2 in our house, I use either but DD uses the floor  or her gym bag or her dance bag. In fact DD uses anywhere other than the actual dirty laundry bin and do you think her washing gets done ??????
