SS5 has been broadcasting for a few months now and I've had no problems with it. I never "activated" it despite the permanent red button urging me to do so. Then today, the screen went blank, with another warning to activate it! Strange, given that my current contract with them, expired on 17th October. So it would appear to be a trick to get people into a new contract.

The channel goes off at random times for everybody who doesn't activate it. It's a coincidence that your minimum term (not "current contract") ended a month ago.

Activating the channel alone will NOT enter you into a new minimum term.

I'm not defending Sky here, the "activation" process is a joke.

In related news, the "press red to activate" icon is STILL showing on the channel even though I was forced to activate it in October.
