    1k is a lot, that's 2 months of my benefits :/
Imagine how bad it would be if you had to work for that money! ;)

After I have paid rent, council tax, gas bill, electric bill, water bill, sewerage bill, and the phone bill, I have less than £100 of my wages left for the last 3 weeks of the month. :D

Well, you clearly have a computer, scanner and smartphone - most people would prioritise their energy when on such limited income!

I just got two bills when the postman turned up 10 mins ago.

Both addressed to the previous tenant, now I know it's naughty to open mail not addressed to yourself however these are bills.

Anyway one was a sorry letter from Npower for not sending a bill in over 18 months, so no wonder I never noticed beforehand. Back to January last year, 7 months before we moved in.

The other was a bill for the entire 18 months of £1k.

I need to go looking for my contract and if I got an inventory from my LL.

    1k is a lot, that's 2 months of my benefits :/

That is a reminder, not a bill. So you, or rather the previous account holder, should have been sent a bill previously to your address.

How do you know what period that reminder covers?

The letter says they have reduced the amount otherwise owed by £410.39 being the amount calculated as being used and not billed for the period 19/01/13 - 17/05/13

Phone and Laptop was a gift from my parents when I went to university years ago. My first generation smartphone is hardly anything to brag about let alone my giffgaff £5 goodbag.:/ I love how people think that a £20 printer/scanner I got to print off uni work is a luxury. We're talking about my bill not my income and outgoings.

There hasn't been any bills, hence why I never know and sorted this out quicker, being issued one would have rung alarm bells for me.

And there is no date on the reminder letter saying for which period it is for.

But they can't afford a lead - probably available for a quid from poundland.
