Re clothes (inc. manufacture of):
http://timesonline.typepad.com/eco_worrier/2007/03/ecoworriers_war.html
interesting article there.
From this - a blog mentioned (which covers clothes refashioning):
www.nikkishell.typepad.com/wardroberefashion?
I love the refashionista, and also the term 'eco worrier'! I think I will give it a go. I'm thinking about the £2 Next, mans shirt, black and xtra large, I saw in Crawley's only reasonably priced charity shop - could've done something with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p
I did 2 hours teaching today. The house was just fab, 800 years old, stuffed with antiques and a lovely garden of 2 1/2 acres - the cars parked outside - wow. Was I jealous, did I envy them their millions? .. Maybe just a little! :rolleyes:0 -
Hardup Hester asked if it was £12K before or after tax.
Before!0 -
Thanks NN, same as me then, I only asked as someone else said they managed easily on £13k & then I realised they meant after tax. After tax £12k that works out to nearer £9k.

I bought it on the start of my new lifestyle and i've been through many money-saving books but this one i can't bear to part with. Why don't you try your library first? I find i read it about twice a year (usually when my 'old' habits start creeping back!!)HTH
Thanks, I asked the library and they said it is out in September, I'm going to put in a reservation.0 -

Are you already a member of Pigsback?
If not then get you and DH signed up - you get points for clicks that you can exchange for Boots vouchers etc. You then get more points if you have Boots card so it all mounts up!
There is a section on pigsback on the freebie thread here if you want to have a look.
Pm me if i can be any help. At about four clicks a week - 40 pence worth - plus signing up to newslatters gets extra points I have got about £35 of points over the year. If DH did the same that would be £70 worth for just clicking every few days.
You could refer DH as a friend and get extra points for his joining as well!"This site is addictive!"

Thistle-down wrote: »:T I agree completely. I do find much of it relevant to me but the most valuable thing about the book is that whenever I feel the urge to splurge I pick up the book and it gives me the right mindset to continue my frugal efforts.
I think it is a book worth owning.
Thistle-down, my Tightwad Gazette and Tightwad Gazette 2 arrived today. I understand absolutely what you mean and I am so glad I bought them - for 1p + postage - they are fab.
I got the Dummy's book, but these are so much better. She writes in a witty style and as I read through I kept thinking - I can do that! DH was reading the other and kept reading bits out to me. There are so many things I will do .
With ref to the rag rugs - I got a big bit of hessian today from a local charity shop, so my base is ready. I am short of fleece so I will continue to search.0 -
