Are the BBC in effect protecting parking eye et al?

I know this thread is about parking "control" but I can't let you get away with that. The tobacco industry manufactures a product that people [STRIKE]want[/STRIKE] are addicted to. [STRIKE]If you don't want it, you just[/STRIKE] Once they've got you hooked you can't walk away from it.
Fixed that for you.Je suis Charlie.0 -
This thread seems to be full of conspiracy theories.
The fact that PE's parent company collect the licence fee, will have no bearing on any editorial decision by programme makers as to whether to investigate PE.
The 20% of the population who choose to buy tobacco products, contribute around £14 billion in taxes and excise duty to the exchequer. Without that money, all those self-appointed busybodies who want to try and tell people how to live their lives, wouldn't have a job.
There is no valid comparison between the two 'industries'.
That is all. Now let's get on with the real issues.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
The fact is though that information has been given to the BBC but not used, I mean you got companies making millions in profits each year, issuing 100s of thousands of these tickets, and they highlight companies hardly anyone has heard of! They did this previously on other watchdog clips.
Now it may not be conspiracy as you suggest, but why are they not investigating this properly ? If they have had 100s of complaints as they said, it can't be about the companies highlighted! So why go after companies that probably only ticket a couple of thousand vehicles between them each year?
I just think that the BBC has missed the point, the letter sent to them just confirms that, if it's not a conspiracy then it's incompetence and a sheer disregard of what has been given to them. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

I am not sure that the BBC see the PPCs as a problem, just as they are relaxed about payday loan companies, sell your gold for a pittance companies, whiplash fraudsters, Brighthouse, cold callers, and the price of razor blades. They have bigger fish to fryYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
