Are the BBC in effect protecting parking eye et al?

After watching this Watchdog programme last night, and the fact that the researchers have been given verifiable data on massive breaches of the bpa code of practice, and more importantly pofa 2012.
I'm coming to the conclusion that the BBC does not really want to bring this matter to the forefront for whatever reason. It was noted on another thread that perhaps a conflict of interest here as the owners of parking eye collects the licence fee.
I don't think Watchdog should be investigating this matter as it's to much for a 5 minute segment amongst the dodgy dyson repairers. We should be asking why somebody like panarama is not looking at this. It's effecting 2.2m people a year, how is it being ignored?
The answer IMO is that the establishment is protecting these companies, and the media companies are towing the line. It's a national disgrace that the Wild West parking companies can simply do whatever the hell they like.

When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.

Once Parking Eye draw you into their dirty little processes, one does become a little evangelical about the whole affair. Personally, I place them in the same league as the tobacco industry.
However, looking at the bigger picture, there are lot's of other things going on, and, to be honest, if someone tried to rip off my gran, cleaning her hoover, I'd be a little brassed off.
I don't think there is a conspiracy here. Sometimes, "chipping away" is the way forward.Illegitimi non carborundum:)0 -
And this is why I hold them in contempt....."Hi all. Hope someone can help. My daughter has two medical conditions, one is continence related, and one is sight related. We went to her eye hospital for an appointment and there were no normal car parking spaces but around the side I found a space big enough to leave a car. My daughter was desperate for the toilet and her condition means she can't wait, so we ran in to the hospital to use the loo and then we attended her appointment. I didn't realise the area where I'd par...ked was part of the proper car park as it was like a little side road. Anyway, got a ticket in the post from ParkingEye. I appealed online as I hadn't realised and because of my daughter's continence problems, I hadn't had chance to check. They asked me to provide more evidence of the continence issues, which I did. Yesterday I received a letter saying that they have declined my appeal because "it is a pay and display car park". Well surely they knew this before they asked me for evidence?! It doesn't feel like they considered my appeal at all as the response is nothing to do with the issue. They have now given me 14 days to pay £40 or a £70 fine after that. Does anyone have any experience of being in a similar situation please, and can advise?"Illegitimi non carborundum:)0

I think I'd be sending them further proof of the continence problem!
As per the NEWBIES thread post #3 (if a POPLA code has been received), a GPEOL-based POPLA appeal; forget any mitigation, unless you want to pray in aid the Equality Act 2010 in that context. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Well no. The tobacco industry is a legitimate industry, manufacturing a product people want to buy, providing employment and investment opportunities, and of course bring in billions in taxes. They are not scamming people and they are not run by the next best thing to criminals. Okay, the nanny states of the world, and their sheeple, have a grudge against them, but it's not justified for the most part.
The parking control "industry" on the other hand ... well!0 -
Not surprised.
They have some very similar legal misunderstandings around the Licence Fee to cope with.0 -

The Tobacco industry lied to the public for years, and those lies probably led to premature death and hideous diseases.
The PPCs are just a nuisance by comparison, brought about by poor drafting of legislation.0 -

Well if I had the choice of abolishing either the tobacco industry or the PPCs I know which one I'd go for!0 -
I recommend the film "The Insider".
What they have in common is that they organise themselves against the public (as does the BBC's TVL operation). If our legislators had any back-bone they would immediately realise the dangers of that and act to ban it, or at least regulate it very tightly.0 -

I know this thread is about parking "control" but I can't let you get away with that. The tobacco industry manufactures a product that people want. If you don't want it, you just walk away from it. They are not sending you unenforceable invoices. The only people they affect are those that want to be affected. Not so with the PPCs. They are parasites. There's just no comparison between the two industries, not that PPC is an industry.0 -

I'm looking at in terms of resultant damage.
Recently read about an 80 odd year old veteran worried to death whilst undergoing cardiac rehabilitation, nursing mum's worrying about charges, and now a disabled person getting hounded.
And now I see that the BPA are toothless.
It is a disgrace. Shameful.Illegitimi non carborundum:)0
