And you couldn't clean the kitchen because....

Because it was not me who did that to the cooker, I was only there temporarily as LL was renting out the house where I stayed to a family as was getting out of student rentals but I had time left on contract, I agreed as I was paying £45 a week and had to pay own bills at student place and he charged me the same but included all bills(apart from phone and internet) at new place.

When I moved in I just bought own pan and washed it when I needed it, tenants were so bad there though that if I would bring down my own clean dishes to use I could be just getting pan off the cooker to put it on plate and they would take my plate and walk off and when I tried speaking to them they claimed they spoke no English(they were all Polish)

And I did clean up all the rubbish I could when I moved in and cleaned the sideboards, tops of fridge, even washed all the plates in the sink.

as usual, another stupid program only showing low life's and people with limited mental capacity. WHY can't they show any normal people on benefits for genuine reasons, people who keep their homes nicely.....

If you're brought up in dirty surroundings and never see anyone clean how do you know how to clean up yourself and how often.
It could well be a palace to them if they grew up unable to see the floor for rubbish and poo.

Because TV is entertainment and the business model is to get as many viewers as possible?

Programme sounds like a sh*t stirring disgrace to me. Yes, some people may be revolting but this sort of thing is being used to justify the removal of benefits from countless people genuinely unable to work, or working but still very poor. And in a way that doesn't even amount to meaningful saving by the time you factor in all it costs.

OTOH Bournemouth doesn't have enough social housing or sheltered accomodation, and he'll take on anyone.

Watching it just now......the people on it are pathetic......I'll be buying one or two BTL's in the future and I will never rent to anyone receiving benefits.

If you buy in the areas featured, you will soon learn about void costs.

One of these TV companies enquired about making a documentary about the company I work for in the car hire industry. A small TV crew spent a day at our locations and with me in the car. All they wanted to know about was the trouble makers, the difficult customers, the unusual and dodgy characters. My husband works for us so I am in effect his boss, and they wanted to know about home arguments etc. Clearly, we weren't exiting or incendiary enough - they just wanted a cheap programme with characters designed to encourage argument and debate as they didn't call back...

I haven't seen this programme you are all talking about, but I have to say it sounds like a result for the production company!

I was taught to work for what I want and respect other people's belongings.

Not everyone had such an education as you enjoyed. And some featured on the programme were clearly struggling with the basics of life. As more public services are reduced, this will become more of an issue.

But some of the people on this programme seem to think it's a given that they can damage people's property and not pay rent (even when they are being paid housing benefits....fraud or theft surely?)

Nope. Housing Benefit is the claimants money to do with as they see fit.

They councils don't stand for it (damage council property and fail to pay rent and they can ban you from living in council properties) so why should people who have worked hard for what they have for someone to come and destroy it?

Landlords are free to take up references, credit checks, guarantors etc etc etc. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't re-let to a bad tenant, so they have the same options as Councils. In fact, they have more options because social housing allocation is governed by statute.
