Yes, that change has now happened with us. New and replacement Cash Account debit cards issued from this month onwards will have this extra functionality and so customers can use their new card at LINK and Visa ATMs in the UK and abroad. Account holders whose cards don't expire in the next couple of months will receive one of the new cards automatically by the end of September.
Hope this info helps,
Craig
Many thank for getting back to me Craig.
i tried using my Lloyds card today at a Halifax cashpoint and that worked.0 -

No problem at all.
Yes, that's right. Your current card will work at Halifax and Bank of Scotland ATMs as they're part of Lloyds Banking Group. In order to use LINK & overseas ATMs though, you'll need a new card which you'll receive by the end of September.

I have had a basic bank account with Lloyds since 2009. When I say that the ban had been lifted, I put my card to the test. Having also read elsewhere that the card could be used in any ATM, I gave ti a go. So I tried a Nat west ATM. It gave me my account balance but when I requested £10 it said no. I cant remember what it actually said but something along the lines of ' get lost !"':(0

If you'd read the above post you'll see you will need a new card. This is because the Link ATM and Visa PLUS chip applications aren't loaded on the old cards and the magnetic stripe won't be provisioned for foreign ATM transactions.0 -
This is good news that basic bank account holders are no longer discriminated against, but can some one explain why NatWest insist on writing Basic account on my debit card? is it so that anyone who takes a payment from me can be I no doubt about my financial situation? Surely only I should be privy to the fact that I have a basic bank account?
Can't see the point myself why they need to put Basic on the card.
Would they RBS/NatWest like on their literature we are a UK Taxpayers bailed out bank.0 -

Hi dfr200764,
Just to confirm what reclusive46 had been kind enough to advise - you'll need a new card before you can use LINK & overseas ATMs. If your current card is due to expire in the next couple of months, the replacement you receive will be set up to allow use of the extra facilities. If your card doesn't expire in the next couple of months, we'll automatically send you one of the new cards by the end of September.
Hope this helps,

My card was not due to expire until 2016 but received my new card for access to all ATM's last week, i'm with TSB but they seem to be following the same timetable (new cards issued between July-September) to Lloyds.0

I understand the NatWest & RBS restriction was lifted yesterday.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

Don't know about the NatWest side but with RBS the cards have worked in other machines for a year or so but there was no publicity to that effect.
I think unofficially they could be used in non RBS group machines for a while now. However officially the restriction was lifted on Monday.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
