Where to go for insurance after flooding?

Our house flooded back in February and we've now come to re-new and every company we contact are unable to quote.
Our claim was for almost 20K which consisted of some buildings and some contents.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Stay with your current insurer0

Why are you looking to change insurers ?
Have your current insurer not offered a renewal ?0 -
We had huge problems with our current insurer and getting them to admit we were covered in the first place. They are not offering us a renewal...and even if they were, I'd avoid like the plague!0

You may find problems finding another.
What reason they won't have you any more?0 -
It's a LONG story! You'll be sorry you asked.
Basically, the question we were asked when taking our policy out was 'Do you live within X m's of a riverbank or seafront' to which we answered 'NO' because we don't.
It has came to light that at the end of our road runs a storm ditch/agricultural drain off/tributary that we were unaware of as it runs through a neighbours property and isn't visible from any public footpaths etc. This ditch got blocked by a fallen wall thus the reason it flooded (the ditch isn't even a metre wide.)
Our insurers claim that if they had been made aware of this tributary then they wouldn't have covered us, we've been arguing the questions we were asked and what they claimed we were asked (our copy of Statement of Facts differed to their copy? Strange)
They agreed to settle our claim but voided our insurance. I think this is totally unfair as I proved on many points that we had answered all questions honestly and to the best of our ability, but hey ho....we were happy to just get paid out and put our house back straight.
Hope I haven't rambled too much.0 -
Agreed that you would find it very difficult to find another insurer. You could try specialist insurance brokers but expect quite high premiums even if they could source one."If you will change, everything will change for you." - Jim Rohn

I have just managed to obtain a quotation but it excluded flooding. I think this is going to be our only hope seeing as we've suffered flooding so recently.0

If you're short on time, then you've got no choice I guess. But you could always take it up and continue to look for an insurer who will cover flooding too?"If you will change, everything will change for you." - Jim Rohn

Having a cancelled policy on your record will be a significant hurdle as well
Be well worth seeing if you can get that reversed.0 -
A link to your other thread about the claim itself might be helpful. So here is one.
