... and yet more sellers of the same items join the fray ...

Free listings are immaterial if the sales aren't there. Our Amazon sales are massively beating Ebay's something that wasn't possible a year or two ago.
I've got a top rated item in a couple of categories, top search, best price, etc, one remains top item despite us only having sold 2 in the last week, the highs have been 25-30 per week for the same item.
There's no reason for me to ditch Ebay just yet but it's heading that way.
The Google search issue seems to be the biggest factor and very little information available about it.

I mainly sell but as now limited to 20 a month I've sold very little (mostly items under £5 so no way will I paying 35p to list)

I've looked at Amazon which previously I only used for books.
Sales in the last two weeks:
    Amazon - £42
    Ebay - £3.99

Sales for the same two weeks last year:
    Amazon - £11.20
    Ebay - £194.35

As a buyer (I don't buy much) I have started to search on Amazon equally to Ebay. I would not have thought to do this in the first instance before apart from books. The changes as a seller have influenced me as a buyer.

I have been impressed that a) the prices have been same or lower b) more choice c) more availability

I haven't received any notification for the 100 free listings - has there been a mailshot form eBay? Or is everyone banking on automatic qualification?

  • I could do with an invite. I have 30 unsold items from the 16 April that have to be relisted or they will drop off the unsold list. Previously 30 * 10p wouldn't be a problem but 30 * 35p is a problem although i will pay it this time.

email invites are normally sent in the early hours on the day of promotion.

Always check your ebay account as well for promotional offers
  • I haven't received an invite yet but 100 free listings are now in my account :)

    Hi
I haven't had an email either. How do I check on my account if I have any extra free listings?
I just tried to list an item & I am being charges so I don't think I have any :-(

I didn't receive any email, but I do have the 100 free listings:

Once logged in and looking at the 'My eBay' screen, click "All selling" on the left of the screen...

When the next screen opens, scroll down to the bottom of the page and under "Promotional Offers"...

You should see an entry, " £0 insertion fees for auction-style or fixed price listings.", with "Used: 0, Active: 100, Status: Active"

If you see this, congratulations, you've got 100 free listings to play with! :)

No email yet here either but the 100 free listings are showing and I've listed an item already that has come out of the free 100 and not the remains of the free 20.
