Raspberries ripening early

I have autumn fruiting raspberries (autumn bliss and all gold), both have fruits which are ripe. Is it normal? Aren't they early?

Also when I pick the fruits do I cut off the fruit with the stalk? or leave the whitish bit on the plant? TIA.

Leave the white husks on the canes. If the raspberry doesn't come away from the husk it's not ripe. Sorry I don't know about your other question.

My Autumn Bliss has fruit, some are a fair size but nowhere near ripe, but as you say , a little early.
Yes just pull and leave the white section behind.

    Did you prune them back?

    Thanks for all replies.

These plants were rescued from the 'death-row' of BnQ late last year, probably Nov/Dec. I planted them out in February this year and they have already borne fruit. As the plants/canes were fairly new and did not have any leaves on their branches when I got them, I did not attempt any pruning or cutting back. I'll be pruning them later this year.

My Autumn Allgold are fruiting lightly. They were cut back. They have done this before, so it is an odd year. But, the OP's may be more out ofkilter for being newly-planted and not pruned.

I'm getting huge crops of all soft fruit at the moment, even Honeyberries - which are vile!

I'm making the most of mine, as the Met Office have predicted possibly the hottest, driest summer on record. So, that's snow in June, Wimbledon rained off, and the Somerset Levels better start worrying.

Autumn raspberries should be pruned at the end of winter. That's why they fruit later in the year.

After a year of growth this summer, they should be good strong canes for the future. It's very satisfying to rescue plants and then get years of pleasure from them.

I bought 6 plants from aldi last year 3 summer and 3 autumn fruiting, the 3 summer ones died but the other 3 grew on but had fruit on them last summer, this led me to become confused whether they were summer or autumn canes. So this year I didn't prune them apart from one which got caught by the strimmer, anyhow they are all growing well with no sign of fruit forming as yet. Maybe I get lucky and have some fruit by the autumn but either way I will know to cut them back next February or March as I am sure that they are autumn fruiting varieties. By the way the fruit that they did produce last summer was rather small and not very tasty.

Aldi Autumn raspberries are normally Allgold, which I think is identical to Fall Gold, just a play on words, as it were. So, if yours fruit yellowy gold, they WILL be the autumn variety, so cut back in the new year. If they have red fruit... they aren't! (Aldi have several red varieties... Glen Ample, Malling Jewel and Tulameen, all summer varieties, in the last two years).

They did also sell Autumn Bliss, a red autumnal variety, about three years ago. I think this is a spineless version, so should be distinguishable from that.

I have autumn bliss wrote down so I believe that is the variety. The summer ones that didn't survive were Tulameen I think.

you can fool raspberries into fruiting at different times regardless of the variety. I have a large autumn variety but I cut some canes back to the ground in winter and some I just shorten. The shortened ones are fruiting now (at the same time as the strawberries which is unusual) and the ones that were cut right back will fruit in autumn. Handy as they take up a lot of space and it avoids the glut
