Today I have received a Parking notice, whilst shopping in John Lewis, I was parked in what I can describe as a white crossed box, these are at the end of every Parking lane, and all these were occupied by other people. I was the only one to receive a ticket, When I went into the store to ask about it, I was told that the car park, was in fact owned by sainsburys next door. I went an spoke with the manager in store, and he said he would find the parking officer, and see what he was playing at, I have to call him back in two days, when he is next in work. The parking fine was issued by a company called Horizon Parking, Will I have to pay this. I would also like to add on these boxes, there are no markings to say not to park, My ticket is for £60, reduced if I pay within 14 days.
Thanks
                Thanks

no you do not have to pay this
Horizon are a BPA member so appeal it in the normal manner if and when the NTK arrives , details in the NEWBIES sticky thread at the top of the forum
also appeal to the landowner too, direct to the CEO if the local manager doesnt sort you out
clearly bad signage would be one appeal point , as well as not a gpeol and no contract , maybe other appeal points too0

As ever, this is covered in the sticky thread at the top of this parking forum - which is why I wrote it. Sadly, last year it got silly as we could not keep up with all the ''help I have got a private parking ticket, what do I do?'' threads so I wrote a sticky thread BEGGING newbies to 'read these FAQS first'.
As always, just read the sticky threads at the top of the forum, wait for the NTK in the post then send the appeal template from the NEWBIES thread, and if not then the 'NEWBIES read this first' sticky tells you how to win at POPLA and explains what that is... and the charge is NOT a fine. PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland). PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for your replies, I am a new member, and forgot to add, that this was on a free carpark. and I am only a named driver, my partner owns the vehicle. Would it make a difference, to how I appeal. I have read through the Sticky, but still a little unsure. I have also spoke to the manager of the store, and they say they wont get this notice revoked.
 Thankyou for all your help

If you are waiting for the NtK (and you should wait for that before making any contact with the PPC) then it will be addressed to the RK, not you.
The RK should make the appeal as per the template in the NEWBIES sticky thread. It should be phrased as 'the driver' (but don't reveal who the driver was) - no 'I did this', or 'my husband/wife did that' - always 'the driver'.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

            no car parks are "free"
its a non p&d car park where there will be rules about parking and "penalties" for non-compliance (like an overstay or non-return rules or parking wholly within the bay etc), even if no actual parking charge is levied
so you need to use the template appeal letter to the ppc within the correct timescales (post #1 of the newbies sticky thread), also appeal to the retailer (and landowner if different) as fully detailed in post #6 of the newbies thread, and report any CoP breaches to the BPA (as detailed in post #6 of the newbies thread)
MAKE SURE THE RK USES THE TEMPLATE APPEAL LETTER
 no revealing who was driving0

Yes you don't appeal, your partner does when they get their Notice to keeper.my partner owns the vehicle. Would it make a difference, to how I appeal.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

 Thanking you for your help

It is no big deal to let them have the info they already have. But make a point of it in the reply. You don't want to jeopardise any appeal.0

Did you never hear back from the manager of Sainsbury's about this?
Is it possible they have had it cancelled it and failed to tell you?
It is odd that they have asked for these details again. I think I would personally put them in bold at the top of the email and send them the appeal again, making the point that if they are so incompetent that they cannot see the details on your email you are not confident they haven't since missed the appeal too!Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking.
