  • Thanks for all your tips so far...I think I may well purchase some of the avon skin so soft....does it have a feminine smell, or would it be suitable for my husband too?

the more I think about it...I am convinced I became a human buffet thanks to the coconut shower gel....I am going to stick up on mint mint mint this time!! All fruity fragrances are banned!

I can confirm, as a male, that IMO it is acceptable for use by men and dries with no 'girlie' scent ;):D

Coils outside ( I really like them and think they're great, but you do have to be careful with them as they're fragile, and remember to blow them out when you come in or they won't last long at all!); cover legs, ankles, arms and wrists earlier in the evening than you ever think you might need to; plug-ins in and switched on from about 7pm and nothing less than 50% deet. If I do all of those, I'm usually fine, and if I don't, I'm a mosquito magnet.

Mozzies really like my DH so he wears socks and long trousers when we go out in the evening.

He also puts plug in things in the hotel room and either sprays himself or uses repellent wipes.

We've got one of those click it things from Boots and one of these
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASPIVENIN-INSECT-POISON-REMOVER-KIT/dp/B004M9SLVK

which seems to help take the sting out of existing bites.

I drink G&T and I'm told it's the quinine in the tonic that makes them fly past me and onto him.;)

Also take vitamin B6 and an antihistamine 10 days before you go and during your stay.

If you like Marmite, have a slice of toast, crumpet or a couple of crackers 10 days before holiday.

Mossies love ankles and wrists in particular, so I always cover them - long trousers and socks in the evenings. I don't win too many glamorous grannie contests, but I'm bite free at least!

Do you have a link to anything that proves these will help to prevent mosquito bites?

I been told to get the insect repellant and bite creams at the country you are staying at. The stuff is stronger and cheaper! Mum had a bite on her foot in Turkey which came infected and the chemist gave her some cream and some antibiotics for under £1!!
