Atesa car hire Almeria no credit card

Hello all,
I'm stressing out big time so any help/advice greatly appreciated!
We booked car hire in my partner's name via Monarch/Cartrawler with the agent Atesa. When we booked, his credit card was fine but it's since been stopped (due to fraud) and he's having problems getting another one because he's self-employed. Anyhow, it's looking increasingly unlikely that the new credit card is going to be here in time for our trip on 6th July.
I've looked into alternative hire companies that will accept a debit card and they haven't got a vehicle big enough for us (5 adults, 1 infant and a whole load of baggage and a pushchair means we need a minivan).
So, cash isn't a problem, I can take enough with me to cover the excesses. Getting a pre-paid card isn't a problem either. Nor is a Visa debit with sufficient funds on it.
Now the rental agent Ts&Cs say that a pre-paid card is not accepted and there must be a credit card in the main driver's name. How strict are they about this.. does anyone have any experience? Would the pre-paid card pass? Would they accept cash in the absence of a credit card?
We also have access to his dad's credit card (same initals and surname) would this be accepted? I know it's not exactly a perfect solution but needs must...?
Please help me.. I'm going nuts here thinking we might have to cancel the whole holiday :-(
Thanks,
HS

They're very strict on it, because their insurance company is. Are 2 vehicles not an option? It can sometimes be cheaper than a minivan anyway.
Grab 2 of the smallest cars possible, cram 3 adults, the infant and some of the luggage in one, then in the other you can have 2 people and the whole back seats for luggage.0 -

Excellent point OTB, the other half has never driven abroad and he's a bit nervous but I've just looked and it's actually working out cheaper than the minivan!
Now, anyone know any car hires at almeria airport that accept debit and not credit cards?0 -
You could try e-mailing Tropicar ( web@tropicar.net ). They don't have anything about credit cards on their website, but then they don't really have much on their website.0
