Fonebank Royal Mail Claim

I did originally put this in the boost income forum but think it is better here.

Anyway I have an order for £49 for 4 phones I sent to Fonebank using their Royal Mail tracked service. Now I also sent another couple of parcels at the same time to them (which have been paid for by Fonebank and everything's fine with those) but none have been signed for (as apparently they are supposed to have been) and 2 have gone missing.

Now my question is as I was sending these as an individual and not a business can I claim for the £49 I would have received from Fonebank as I don't have an original receipt for any of the 4 phones?

Royal mail's claim process says something about needing original proof of purchase which I don't have so I am confused. I have made claims on behalf of a business but this is not business.

I have been seeing conflicting information too.

You will need proof of postage to claim for them. Standard signed for is a max of £50 compensation I think.
  • I have the proof of postage and all that - but will I need original proof of purchase?

The parcel was £49 so that's fine about the max being £50.

3 This evidence must show what it cost the claimant to acquire, purchase or manufacture the original item (or repair in the case of damage).
My understanding is that if you have a quote from Fonebank it has to suffice.
