ISP questions

Hi,
We need to get a new ISP as we have upgraded our pc at home, and no longer have the software cd for this ISP. We have requested it many times, but the customer service is useless. I am talking about Pipex Homecall. We are unhappy with the service, and also want to get a faster speed. We currently have a 2mbps connection, but we have looked at various sites, and have found out that the line can support a 6.5-8mbps connection. Also, we know that how far away your house is from the telephone exchange affects the connection, our house is 968 metres away from it (in a straight line), is that a good or bad thing?
Are LLU connections better? Be* has recently been enabled in our area, and i've heard good things about them, but will we be able to get the 22 mbps speed they offer? I think it's unlikely if our line can only support a 6.5 mbps one, or is it different for LLU? I am bit confused.
On Sam Knows, it said that "Another service that is present on the line would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection." What is this? I only have one ISP.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Bella

"Another service that is present on the line would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection." is shown because you already have Pipex on your line
6.5Mb is good, but remember that this is an estimate
you won't get 22Mb from Be, but maybe closer to the 10-15Mb mark0
