Halifax £100 switching offer

My HX switch is due to complete tomorrow but on checking my direct debits that have been switched over to HX I see the Tesco cc is set up fine but the other two payees are Barclaycard and in stead of showing their name in the recipients section it originally showed "direct debit cont" but both are now showing "direct debit rej". Does this mean the direct debits are rejected.
Barclaycard have confirmed in writing to me they are set up with the Nationwide so there should be no issue collecting payments.
A bit concerned because I do not want to fall foul of BC and result in a non payment.
Do you see this description in Halifax or Nationwide?
If you're worried about a DD not being collected because of a switch, you could always make a manual payment this month. Check if making a manual payment affects the amount of DD collected because you don't want to pay the bill twice! Or, as security, you could just pay the minimum manually to make sure you avoid late fees and marks on your credit file, and then argue with BC that they should've taken the DD.0 -

It is with Halifax and details shown correctly with NW. Also I normally pay my BC manually each month and it is due on the 28th and my switch is complete tomorrow. However to meet the terms and conditions of the HX £5.00 offer two dd have to be take every month. I would lose that if the payment is made manually because I only have one other dd set up for Tesco cc.
I'll see what happens tomorrow and if still the same status I will speak to Halifax.0 -
Another query. The £750 should this be paid into an external account and transfered from that account to HX or can I pay by faster payment direct into my HX account.
I am wondering now if I may not qualify for the £100 offer if I pay direct in HX.0 -
Where are you wandering off to?

The £750 can come from any source, as long as it's external to Halifax. So it doesn't matter if that's from your job, or any other account that you have elsewhere.[/QUOTE
At the time of the switch there is £900 in the old account and NW will transfer this to the new account. Would I need to pay in another £750 from an external account to qualify for the bonus?0 -

I had the same when I switched a redundant NW Flexdirect to Halifax. I called Halifax call centre and was advised that all is ok, although the advisor was unable to explain why it showed as “direct deb rej”.
During switch process it originally showed as “ Barclaycard", then a day or two later changed to "direct debit cont”, then a day or two later changed to “direct deb rej”.
My Barclaycard DD is due in about a weeks time. What I have done is pay 3/4 of my B’card manually in advance to cover my own back. Now waiting to see if the rest is collected in a weeks time.
Also I had two Tesco DD’s. Although these appeared to switch ok, they actually had incorrect ref numbers, so DD’s were not taken. I have had to go into Tesco banking site and reapply these, and cancel the old ones at Halifax end. These now work ok after manual intervention. Also, a third Tesco DD appeared at the Halifax end only, during switch process.
All in all, not a very inspiring experience. I can only suggest keeping a very close eye on things.
The good news is that the £100 switching offer was paid into my account a couple of days after switch, before any DD's went out.
I will try to remember to update this thread in a week or so with the result of the Barclaycard DD situation.0 -

Thats a really helpful reply - thanks. I have spoken to BC and they confirm everything is set up to take the payment from my HX account on the 27 June. Also I have spoken to Hx who said everything was correct and the DD had all been transferred correctly.
I really will be annoyed if there are any issues with the DD payment because like you I could make the payment manually. However would not get the £5 for this month.
Also the payees names were orginally shown as direct debit cont on both the BC accounts but today changed to direct debit rej.
I even went into a HX branch today and they could not explain it. However they offered me a selection of cup cakes to take on my cycle ride.
Oh well thats probably what they mean when say about giving you a little bit extra.0 -
Hello Money Savers,
Complete money saving newbie here. Just wanted to run something by you....
I recently opened a halifax reward account to get the £5 monthly payment but upon looking into things a bit more closely I believe I should be able to get the £100 switching reward as well...
I have no desire to switch my everyday current account (Santander 1 2 3) as it's working quite well for me at the moment. So I have set up a basic Everyday (no fees, no overdrafts, no rewards) account with Santander, created a monthly SO transfering £750 out of my main account into this account and created 2 DDs to my Tesco Savers account to pay £1 each per month from my new everyday account.
I'm now planning to log onto my Halifax reward account and use the switching service to close this new Santander everyday account and transfer all the credits and DDs over. I'm also planning to transfer the £750 monthly funding requirement straight back to my 123 account once it's entered the Halifax Account (minus the 2 x £1 DDs to Tesco.)
If my understanding is correct this should bag me the £100 switching bonus?
Am I correct in my assumption??
Many thanks,
Rich.0 -
Well just checked online and everything switched from NW today and they transferred the balance of £990 to HX. Have three DD in place so fingers crossed I have done enough to secure the £100 payment and the £5.00 payable on the 2 July. Only time will tell!!0

Received my £100 today and that would have been day 8.0
